I suppose when comparing the others in midfield he did, idk I remember Sami as being ok but nothing special. More so did a lot of running but everything else was average.

Having said that he scored one of my favorite goals vs Barca, stripped it away from Puyol and scored at the same time. [emoji1787][emoji23]

Yup never quite understood what he was good at, other than sort of running a lot, didn’t think he passed well, covered spaces well, tackled well, attacked well defended particularly well, nothing really, just an average player IMO, he is one player I’d consider very lucky to have had the career he’s had, can’t remember even one outstanding game from him for any club or his country.

He had a strong presence in midfield and that thing people often like to call "STEEL IN MIDFIELD" or "Workhorse". Lots of stamina and energy, but lacked the speed to make it noticeable. Good at winning the ball back and marking a certain playe. I agree that he wasn't extra special in neither defending nor attacking but he was a very good player for Mou's system and he kind of complemented Xabi Alonso well. Let's not forget that Mou was trying to build an anti tiki-taka team at that ttime and Khedira was a pretty good fit for that.

Not a bad player at all imo.

    I don't know about Case.

He was tearing it up at Porto and was the hottest young DM in the world. It was humiliating when the club had to sign Lucas Silva in the winter transfer window as if any random Brazilian would do the trick.

Khedira being good defensively is a trope. The aspect of defense he was good at was covering space and passing lanes, but was not a good defender for his size.

As others have said, he's lucky he's had the career that he's had.

We’ll definitely agree to disagree on this one, never thought so even for a minute, he certainly “looked” like he should have been able to though.

Right, Khedira was shit, didnt know how to defend and was lucky in his career. Thats why he won so much and so many great coaches loved him. The level of knowledge of posters here is a joke. If Khedira had the passing and creativity of Kroos, that player would have looked like Fede. If Kroos had the physicality, energy and positioning sense of Khedira, that player would have looked like Fede. Its that simple, but some morons can't even understand that. I truly do not give a shit that Khedira was not cool or exciting enough to be popular among casual fans.

Meh, some “great coaches” loved him some did not, IMO he didn’t need to be cool or exciting, he just needed to be “good”

Khedira was a decent player who didn't excel at anything but workrate. He was brutally average at everything else.

So now it's cool to badmouth Khedira? Wasn't back in the day. I used to get a lot of crap for it.

Khedira was good IMO. Nothing sexy, but did very well overall, in his role.

Khedira perfectly embodied Mou's style of football and the entire Mou brigade over rated him for that reason.

Now that Mou's lost all relevance Sami is no longer a useful tool to prove the best football is played without ever kicking the ball.

That is actually quite an accomplishment. I can't do both simultaneously; I need to take some of Messi's HGH and then re-focus my abilities.

So much energy. Fantastic ball control, pinpoint accuracy, quick bursts of speed. He’s like a firecracker in the midfield

IMO still a little rough around the edges but very very good, in another year or so if he stays on this trajectory we will have a fantastic player on our hands I think

If we didn’t have him already, we and half of Europe would be after him. He is so good and just 21 years old!
