Like Zidane in 2006 .. he was 34-35 and came back from NT retirement to try and win the WC with France..
Croatia has a very solid team and can challenge for the EURO cup.

Zidane quit club football before going back to the NT, different cases.

Oh I wasn't disagreeing with you. I guess we'll just have to manage his load even more, and why not getting reinforcements for midfield was such a failure on our part.

Dennis 2nd goal is all on Modric...

Also, he ignored to pass a wide open Benzema who could've scored 2-2 goal when it was 70th minute mark or something...

Well that forces Casemiro to be played of Zidane doesn't do some insane gamble with Valverde, James and Isco.

Second consecutive international break where he picks up an injury while playing for Croatia. I’m sorry, but at his age, it’s time to make a choice. Either retire from the national team and keep playing for Real Madrid, or pack up his shit and leave next summer.

It`s unfortunate he played very well recently, and always an injury risk for anyone who are playing for the national team.

    What?

He had a disastrous match vs. brugge, but then had a great game with a stunning goal...

I already mentioned this. This is the year to phase him out.

Isn't it his last year on his contract anyway? If it is, just don't renew and run it down.

Luka is the greatest midfielder in RM history imo and it sucks that he is injured again, but he is nowhere near top level anymore ......we have James and Valverde now ,we cant complain.
the midfield 3 doesnt work anymore,we need James or Valverde against Galatasaray and Barceona imo

You guys are underrating Modric imo. His career is entering it's last phase yes.....but don't get it twisted....there is no better midfielder at Madrid than Modric.

I would NEVER bench Modric in an important game now (not saying in 2 years....now).

He needs to be preserved... He can't go out on a limb and keep performing like he used to do 2-3 years back.

Also, we need to give enough time to Valverde to grow into a prominent player as he is showing promise. We have Odegaard as well, who has been performing at a very high level.

Exciting times, the golden era is ending, there are exciting prospects ahead to be nurtured to usher in the new age.

    You're stuck in 2018.

Join us in 2019 where Modric has slowed down greatly, lose balls and while having class can't be expected to be consistently world class.

I still start Modric in any big game if he’s fully healthy. There’s not even a second thought about it imo. I think Zidane agrees as well.

    Valverde deserves the starting position.

Lol why start in merit when you can force players into lineups on previous achievements?

Maybe this time Modric, Kroos and Casemiro will work. Maybe

I would say the likelihood that we see this midfield in the Clasico is less than 10%

I agree. Zizou tends to go for a more defensive, hard working, central midfield against the Cules. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes with Casemiro, Valverde & Modric/Kroos/Isco.

Disturbing how you give no credit to a player that has outperformed basically everyone in our CM role.

Our best midfielders this season have been Casemiro, Valverde, and James
