I say NASL for 2 reasons. 1. San Antonio is there and would make a great derby. 2. NASL didn't screw over Austin like USL and Phil Rawlins did.
Agreed. I just can't forsee someone with 20 mil coming in to rescue us. Maybe USL PRO will make it out here in a few years. Its not like either is up to us, anyway.
I'm being very optimistic about this.... but I wouldn't be surprised if NASL wants to put a team in Austin to create the Austin-San Antonio rivalry that in my opinion could generate lots of money.
Thats what im thinking. I mean one of the many reasons they picked San Antonio was to Draw Austin over from USL to NASL. They saw a potential Portland/Seattle rivalry.
Yeah but you don't pay a season's worth of bills off the revenue from your two home matches against your biggest rival. Any upside to big money from them would be more than offset by the relative geographic isolation of the two teams from the rest of the league.
ok i see we are now voting on what kind of team we would want but there should be question asking who is up for running Austin football club run buy supporter/community on a one memeber one vote. there has been a lot of post about different league and cost but first we need to see who in before anything eles.
Not that the NASL is any better because of its fragile stability, but I wouldn't trust USL on anything at this point.
I'm up for making a go of the community-owned option. I think we probably need to setup a public meeting, to assess how much interest there is. We could put it in the Austin Chronicle calendar (there are alot of Aztex fans who don't use this message board).
