I was checking out Icelandic flights and I ran across pacaged for for Iceland Airwaves, http://icelandairwaves.is/. It sounded like kind of a cool thing to do, even though it's Iceland in November?
Any thoughts, insight, experience. Would I be nuts to go to Iceland in November?

Wouldn't be nuts to go at all. I have never been but I know quite a few that have, it's a fairly popular destination for people here in the UK that are seeking something different from their holiday (only a 2 hour flight)

I think you would just miss the northern lights at that time of year. Iceland is also very expensive!!

Would probably be just around freezing temperature. Nov is often when snow starts falling there so later in the month the higher chance you will get some

Great story. I was just in Iceland in October (using the Iceland air stopover on my way to a business meeting in Norway) and rented a car. The only time I think I've ever gotten a GPS and it's absolutely worth it. If I had to listen to street names to figure things out, we'd have gotten lost at every turn because they often don't match what they seem to be (really? "Pingvellier" is pronounced "Thingvellier"?) . Much easier to hear "turn right in 500 feet".

Still, that only helps if you put the name in correctly, as we learned here...

Yes. The country will be cold, dark, and weird. For crazies only.

    I would go.

Not all that cold though. I'm pretty sure it's warmer than Chicago.

PS: Actually it's basically the same temperature-wise.

Chicago is pretty weak on volcanic/seismic activity.

That's because Illinois doesn't encourage fracking enough.

Its explosions come from gunshots. Chicago is at 815 shootings for the year to date ... on track for 3,000. Iceland, not so much.

In November, Iceland will be dark or dusky nearly the whole day so you won't get to see much. Still worth it.
