im thrilled with this result, and it shows(i believe) that it was right to hire a foreigner to take the helm of the national team, Lothar after a so-so start has really pulled things together. I was nervous that the game against Germany may have been nothing more than a stroke of luck put yesterday they ended my worries by playing some of the best football i ve seen them produce in the last 5 years. Congratulations to Huszti Szabolcs for the two goals, and i know that we ve always looked good at the start of qualifications ( 2 - 2 draw with Italy followed by a 6 - 1 win away to Lithuania in WC2002 qualifiers, and a 1 - 1 friendly draw with Spain followed by a 1 - 1 away draw to Sweden in the last Euro qualifiers), and then have faded, i have hope, that this time, with the help of Lothar, we may finally be able to achieve the impossible, and make our first major tournament since 1986. I ll keep my fingers crossed.

The absence of Babos is a surprise and i also don t know why Peter Lipcsei and Kenesei are missing. (Injury? International retirement?).
I am eager to see how Huszti does seeing as he has had a strong start to the year and to the national team after goals against Japan and Scotland. Also, the attack looks stronger than ever. With Gera and Torghelle having moved abroad, i think this will improve them alot as players, Szabics should be given a start but for some reason Matthaus doesn t rate him that highly it seems. Whatever, i won t criticise now since he s doing a good job so far.
    My starting 11:
Kiraly, Juhasz, Gyepes, Szelesi, Low, Bodnar, Feher, Huszti, Simek, Torgheller, Szabics.
Hopefully we can cause an upset and beat Croatia on Saturday.

Please remember that us Hungarians don t call our team Hungary.

M-A-G-Y-A-R-O-R-S-Z-A-G, would be the way to go about things.

Well actualy it would be M-A-G-Y-A-R-O-R-S-Z-Á-G :)

Babos isnt injured but he asked not to be called up because he thinks its more important to conventrate on Feyernoord than on the NT....

Ok, this was a huge embarassment. I was watching this on tv with a croatian friend of mine and was warning him that we could cause a surprise, based on our recent strong results in friendlies, and then this. And the worst thing is, not only did we 3 - 0, but we deservedly lost 3 - 0. croatia outclassed us, and our only realistic chance was when Gera headed the ball straight into the keeper from just 2 metres out. We were unlucky to get a red card early on, and it meant that Lothar s tactic was immediately destroyed and i also think it was a harsh red card, but thats football.
I think what perfectly sums up this match for us is when Gyepes volleyed the ball straight into our own net...
big improvements must be made, if we are to beat Iceland and and get back on our feet in the next game.

Huszti Szabolcs looks to be a very promising young player. Has he got any offers or linked to any big European clubs?

Trying to be funny? He may have single-handedly cost us a chance at qualifying for the WC06.

I doubt that he deserved a red card in the last game and though it was his absence that meant that we couldn t create any chances throughout the last match, i don t think you should blame it on him since the red card was very harsh and unfortunate, and, whats more, i am fairly convinced that he is the most talented Hungarian player at the moment.
