I mean, it sounds like it was a peaceful split, but this can't be good for the Spirit, at least in the off-the-field aspect. I hope the foundation he built was strong enough, b/c attendance could very easily plummet if they can't replicate his outreach.
What I find interesting is his comments that he thinks his earnings from his PR businesses is potentially greater than from a GM salary for a pro team. Of course, with a budget of about $1M+, it may be the job does not pay that much (just like being a league player).
They have a great sales team. Former Freedom GM Mark Washo is right there at the Plex. The outreach will still be there.
Asked a staffer at the game last night about who's going to replace Hummer, and he said he expected it to be a team effort, though Mark Parsons will take over the technical director role for the entire program.
