This boomer doesn't own a car, rides a scooter on the street, PARKS IT OUT OF THE WAY of anyone else who needs to use the sidewalk and Lyfts [And LuxBus when I've got my pre-game shit together] to Avaya. But, your point is well taken.
I was about to comment that any boomers with 12 year old kids must have gotten a very late start or adopted, but then I realized you are talking about two different groups here: boomers and soccer parents. Just a lesson to all, carefully read before you write your replies.
So I take my kids to the games and they sit and watch and know what is going on. Heck my 12 yr old daughter knows exactly who is doing good, by name during the match, she catches things I don't. Much better then half the people I see on their phones updating BigSoccer and their twitter feed Anyways to get back on track. The Ultras are fine but not that exciting IMO. It seems like their best chants are "We don't give a F**K about ____" and "UUSJU". Everything else is mostly hard to hear and follow. I will say, they sounded better when they were in the stands and not at the field level We need some custom songs for the players on the field, even if it is just yelling their name, start somewhere. It seems like no one in the stands sings anything in unison. I can her way better chants when we are playing away on the telecasts. To rip and modify some from my daughters softball team. "Hey Wondo, We need a goal just a little goal G-O-A-L goal goal goal!" "(scream this B-a-t-t-l-e battle for me baby battle." Repeat twice
Seeing as most of the beers at Avaya are priced on the high side of 10 dollars I don't see the front office offering us a $1.00 beer night unless they were to serve it in 6oz Dixie cups and that would probably just be Lucky Lager.
I really disagree with the statement that Quakes market to families. If they do, then they are failing miserably at it. I see very few young kids with parents in the stands (ball kids and mascots don’t count). And I’m not saying that Arsenal stadium atmosphere is great — i’ve never been — i’m just citing what Tom Fox said. Apparently he thinks their atmosphere was great...
If the p*to censors have their way, there will be no one allowed in LA stadia. . .. MLS has done nothing since fans chanted “********” at the L.A. Galaxy’s Pride Night in May. At least the Galaxy sent security guards to remove those attendees they caught chanting. But still, the chants continue. * * * * Our co-founder Cyd Zeigler advocated for a more drastic response in May: “If MLS is truly on the side of acceptance and inclusion, it must issue a two-step procedure to handle these issues. No more statements, no more scarves. This mandates real action. “The first time during a match any league or team employee, including officials, hears the ‘********’ chant, the game officials must stop the match. Team or league representatives should address the fans with a warning and ask them to identify anyone who has chanted the slur. Those people must be removed, their game tickets withdrawn, and any season tickets revoked. “After the game re-commences, if the slur is chanted again, the stadium must be cleared of all fans and the match completed in front of an empty stadium.” [Emphasis added] https://www.outsports.com/2019/7/25...ay-********-chant-galaxy-espn-taylor-twellman
This, plus at least a decent team. We finally have the latter, now we need a marketing strategy for the former.
Slight amendment: The team with the offending fans should be forced to play their next home game in an empty stadium.
Yeah, good luck telling a huge group of drunken fans to rat out a fellow paying patron or worse still trying to clear them out of a stadium when they may have had nothing to do with the incident.
Youngest boomers are 54 and lots of people around here have kids in their 40s. I see plenty of 50-something parents in our league
Are there any Men’s Cheerleaders? Just curious because I think that maybe our women fans would like to see them Disco dance!
I don't consider someone born 20 years after the end of WWII a baby boomer. Sorry. Generational designations are largely arbitrary and stupid, exemplified by the fact that boomers are considered to have ended in 1964 while Gen X was supposed to have begun in 1961. It's obviously not a hard and fast rule. Even if I bought into the idea that a 54 year old is a boomer, having children in your 40s could be considered a late start. Certainly not as uncommon as it used to be, but those are still older parents.
I think Krazy George has it covered. There are men's cheerleaders at San Jose State, at least one of whom works part-time for the Quakes.
I'm going to break Godwin's Law, because it's a stupid convention promoted by the historically illiterate, and because it is apropos to do so in this instance. Hitler's father (b. 1837) was in his fifties when he had him (b. 1889), in the Nineteenth Century. Old men have been having brats since long before you were born.
Having a winning team should spur more people to come to matches. More people, better atmosphere. If a winning team doesn’t make people want to be at games, then the F.O. isnt capitalizing on the fact the team is winning. They need to flood the media (except the Murky news). Here in DFW, FCD gets zero TV or radio coverage. That’s a shame. Go Quakes!
