Studying Mechanical Engineering and ill be making atleast 60,000 annually in 2 years after graduation. No I do not plan on getting my masters, I just have a wicked have a job connection.
Out of all engineers Civil engineers make the worst but they have the most responsibility. I started out studying Civil but got out of it fast, You need so much experience just to find a job. And most of the ppl studying were usually from other countries so it would be alot easier for them to find work.
This thread is going to turn into a circle-jerk for engineers, financial types, doctors and lawyers. Seriously, who gives a crap how much you earn first year out?
I do all right for someone with a major thought by most to be useless (political science). Beyond that, I don't see why anyone should care.
Does anyone have any idea what accountancy and audit pays in the States after University (ie before you qualify)?
ha. i have a theatre degree. and you thought philosophy was useless. well, it's probably about the same. lol
The real question is how happy you'll be when that consulting firm you got hired on with has you working 60+ hours a week, and you don't have time to enjoy the money that you're making.
your first year out, expect at least $42, at most $48. you'll get a $1500-3000 signing bonus depending on which firm and in which city. after two years you can jump to any of the other firms and make more than previously (say, 2nd year salary at PwC of $46k, you could go to your client and they'd pay you $52k).
60 hours? that would be heaven. and it would leave plenty of time to spend the money I'm making. i'm seeing a minimum of 80 hour weeks...but the pay is great...
I made a ton from that job - in terms of merchandise, software, and hardware. My Xbox360 stuff was free from leftover credit, even though I hadn't reviewed a game in 2 years (I don't think). My next project is starting a band. You can book us in London.
I thought you knew I used to review videogames for a monthly in Chicago. We sound just like your favorite band. Whoever they are.
In 1996, I made $26,000 per annum the September after leaving my undergrad alma mater with two B.S. degrees, having taken a job that mandated that I live within the Five Boroughs on such "income"...lots of fun.
I do. I'm just saying that stealing cars pays better. That's awesome. But how did you find someone willing to perform Eddie Murphy songs?
Oh, the doctors aren't going to be involved in the circle jerk... in most places a first-year resident makes $40k per year, working 80-hour weeks.
