I bet their fancy HD tvs don't come with a record player and a radio all combined into one fine walnut box.
Elitist. My family didn't own a color TV until I was 20 and already out of the house in college. I didn't personally own a color TV until I was 33.
Well, on the personal responsibility front, I had to buy both the b&w (I could have at 13yo) and color tv's (both a whopping 9") with my own money (birthday $ for the b&w, pot-selling $ for the color)! Otherwise I was welcome to watch the big color set in the living room once I stood up, walked over, and put it on the channel my parents wanted it to be on
I was always attached to my Casio portable televisions back in the day. Of course I had a tv tuner for my SEGA Game Gear too. I don't remember the brand of my back-up black and white portable television that took C or D batteries.
As someone who just moved to the Norfolk media market I'm pretty upset about the Flo thing and obviously I will not be subscribing. A couple years ago when the local coverage came from normal over-air/cable tv stations, you could get DC United's non-national broadcasts on a local Norfolk station. Now you can't. If the point of the change to Flo was to make more money (It's 2019. Of course they did it to make money.), then it is absolutely mindboggling that Flo and DC United would skip out on a chance to get additional subscribers outside the Beltway. Really, if MLS wants to be an actual "Major" league, then every square inch of the US should be part of some MLS team's local broadcast market, just like it is for the NFL.
you want to make money then give people a product worth paying for. I could care less about HD vs SD. I don't want streaming crap. I am not 22 years old watching on my iPhone.
But when you say "I could care less" you sound like a 22 year old." I guess you are not snooty about English. Just a joke, not a sermon.
If you live in Norfolk, you don't need to subscribe to Flo. You can watch the games on ESPN+. Pretty much all of Tidewater can watch via ESPN+. If you're in Richmond, you're screwed. Here's the blackout area: https://www.blackandredunited.com/2019/3/26/18282450/dc-united-blackout-flosports-geofence
I was not allowed to have a phone or TV in my room. Money was not the issue. I could have a stereo. Thats it.
but it is those tactics that will expand the fanbas..................................................oh it won't..............................hmmm my bad.
Was anyone else able to watch the match on ESPN+ last night? I am located in the blackout area but I was able to watch the match in the app. I was actually just checking the score in the 2nd half and the video started playing.
I was blacked out on ESPN+ on my PS4. I did what I do most of the time and listened on my Sirius radio. Flo TV can't "blackout" my radio. I wonder how many "new subscribers" they got by offering the April "dime bag" ?
I couldn't make the game last night, so I watched on ESPN+ (via VPN). That was my first experience with the Flo feed. Seemed fine, but honestly no better than my NC8 HD feed from last year. I switched back and forth from my computer to a recorded copy of last fall's DCU-MONTREAL on my Tivo, and there wasn't really any difference. Maybe the closeups were sharper, but the main action looked identical. Well, except we were actually scoring goals in the game I was watching on the Tivo... The mics were picking up a TON of wind noise. Was it that windy at the stadium last night?
Last night I noticed a couple of very strong gusts -- actually thought there might be a thunderstorm in the area because of the intensity.
