The Club Brugge player, central midfielder/Central defender. Where is he playing now - defense or midfield?
Well with his Club, Club Brugge he plays in midfield, defensive midfield, but on the Belgian NT he plays central defense. Trond Sollied has said he can play both positions as well as the other, but that he doesn't put him in defense because it would weaken his midfield too much. On the Belgian NT, there are several other guys who can do as well as him in the DM position, so he plays central defense and most of the time Bassegio finds himself in the defensive midfield position. On the matter of how good he is, well he is without a doubt the most reliable player both on the Belgian NT as with Club Brugge. Don't expect him to do spectacular things, but he'll work hard for 90 minutes of every game, and in all the seasons he has played for Club Brugge, I don't think I can remember him making more then three mistakes, his level of consistency is scary at times. I guess you can say his role at Club Brugge is about the same as the role Lennon has at Celtic...
