I’m sure there will be a full debrief of the story but it seems poor for the league not to have a contingency plan in place in case the sale didn’t close timely that would allow the team to play in 2018. Or, too many owners see this as good money after bad and see WPS-type problems on the horizon
Boston Breakers have gone broke and folded. http://www.nwslsoccer.com/news/#nwsl-announces-boston-breakers-to-cease-operations
This is an interesting article. Sorry, but this league is a joke, it's like you don't really know if the players in the league will play or if they can leave at any time. http://www.chron.com/sports/dynamo/...ay-for-the-Dash-12538273.php?ipid=hpsportsctp
Or you make the deal contingent upon the player reporting to Houston. Absurd way to run a league and a team
Everyone forget about the "absurdities" of the all the MLS actions/organization/processes at inception, its infancy, adolescence and current teenage years? The path to NWSL league (and any new sports league) stability and maturity is guaranteed to be circuitous and weird. But it would suck if Press did not play on the Dash this year and make a move to Europe. With that said I'd support a player's individual professional desires.
Yes, there were absurdities and other forced deals or leveraged deals where players would only sign with MLS to play for certain teams but when a player was on a team, they actually had to play in the league for that team or were clearly contracted to do so. In NWSL it seems like the national team players allocated to the league participate on a somewhat elective basis where they sort of disappear if they don’t like something about that team or the league because they aren’t actually paid by the league.
From Houston Business Journal, apparently average attendance was 4,500 “The Houston Dash are aiming to roughly double their average home attendance by 2020, a team executive said. It’s part of the team’s three-year plan in an attempt to increase sponsorship revenue and visibility for the soccer team in the Houston area, said David Brady, executive vice president and chief marketing officer for the Dash and Dynamo.”
The U.S. Women's national team will host Mexico at BBVA Compass Stadium on Sunday, April 8. Game time is 12:30 pm. Tickets go on sale on February 14. http://www.chron.com/sports/dynamo/article/U-S-women-s-national-team-to-face-Mexico-in-12558396.php
I wish to double the amount of money in my bank account in two years. It's fun to say that, it's another thing to commit the time, energy, money, and resources to actually pulling it off.
Based on twitter and the team FO employee listing, they may have to do it without Super Sales Guy running the Boiler Room FC operating. It seems like a very stretch goal unless they give away more tickets

I hope this means these 3 players are a little more certain to be in the Dash lineup in the season opener.

E.N., what do you base your comment on? Their current lineup looks pretty strong and, if not, for various injuries (e.g. Lloyd, Ohai) and absenteeism (Lloyd) in the past I think we'd have made the playoff cut in a couple of those years.
Is Press going to be on this team? If she is will she be any more motivated than Carli was? A lot of the new signings are underwhelming. Is there any belief that the South Africans can hang at this level? If it works great but I'm high skeptical until proven otherwise. Speaking of which...the coach. Management has shown a distinct inability to hire a good coach, alongside not giving them any resources beyond the budget to help out. Having Ohai back is awesome and if she can stay healthy for the whole season and get back in the groove, that'll help. Without a solid offense around her, though (Hello Press), it won't be any better than the past.
I'd love to see them bring back Dom to coach. Heck I'd even buy season tickets again to sit behind the bench and hear him.
