Look, I have a daughter who plays soccer, none of this marketing makes it appealing to me - folks are tired of "causes", yeah we will go some as she gets older but the girl power stuff is already so overwhelming it's white noise at this point. He sent some email after season 1 to Dynamo STHs (maybe just some) somewhat obtusively threatening that if more folks with daughters didn't step up and buy tickets there wouldn't always be a team left to inspire them.
This: This comes off as the management saying "we're not interested in improving the team and being competitive, please buy tickets anyway"— Quing Zora (@QuingZora) September 19, 2017

While I'm in a bashing mood, I don't believe that is the room where the fans were. That was the "holding pen" for the players.
Yeah, my comment doesn't sync up with the picture but I thought the pic still was an odd posting. Was Canetti there?
No idea, I didn't go. I don't think the crowd was huge, though, given no pics of the crowd were posted.
I do understand you can't accommodate everyone, but early evening stuff Downtown on a work/school night is a bad idea 8 out of 10 times. Although after so many years and similar doofus decisions, is anyone surprised? 3 years in a row I have missed all of these. Thanks @HoustonDash for scheduling member functions during the week when many of us work.— Bryan Myers (@TheBryanMyers64) September 22, 2017
This is some, uh, spin on tonight's game. 4 years no playoffs either FT: We split the series at @BBVACompassStdm with Chicago after tonight's loss. Back in action on Wed for #HOUvNC pic.twitter.com/HXyJPCgOA3— Houston Dash (@HoustonDash) September 24, 2017
Is this normal? Or is it to hide a poor figure? So. Why hasn't there been an official attendance reported from Houston tonight? Not in either team's report or on NWSL site.— Chris Henderson (@chris_awk) September 24, 2017

This seems to be an excellent way to attract new audiences and grow the women's soccer game. I'm sure this will all end well for the NWSL http://www.sounderatheart.com/seatt...6/megan-rapinoe-seattle-reign-national-anthem
It's now a dying and loser league, further alienating large chunks of the fanbase when they can't afford to alienate anyone. Absolutely zero way to increase or expand your business by protesting the anthem - are all of a sudden more people gonna buy tickets to games to watch protests? No. Have fun selling soccer gear at the local equipment shop as a career when you are 35 with no benefits.
It's about the NWSL - these protests win social media for the day but lose at the box office and on TV. They already have no margin to work with
NWSL won't be hurt that much because there's nothing to take away from a poorly attended never watched sport. MLB had one guy do it. NFL will accelerate their decline - they have huge Tv contracts to insulate it for years but "peak NFL" has occurred. TV ratings are down and outside of the Cowboys games they are down significantly year over year. What people don't understand is that the sports generally live off of an older than 40 crowd who spends money as has bloated cable TV bills. The millennial's don't have money to spend andI don't subscribe to cable so you start taking those things away all the " popularity" that they get from the younger more progressive crowd doesn't follow economically. People can talk about fragmented audience is all they want but the reality is that relatively speaking everything is less popular than it once was and there's only so many dollars to go around .
This a really cool sponsor tie-in; cool thing is Lyft only needs to provide like 2 drivers and cars to meet demand and poorly attended Dash games. Like a free sponsorship Need a ride? 🚙🚗 Our new partnership with @lyft has got you covered: https://t.co/Gr9cVLERgo pic.twitter.com/qxUlz1ifPd— Houston Dash (@HoustonDash) September 26, 2017
All it needed was Sally Struthers and an a few starving African kids to be effective as a public service announcement. A PSA for a for-profit women's soccer league!!! If this isn't an outright admission the league will never work, i don't know what is.
Between this absurd PSA for the league, the Dash moving a game to the Valley and Canetti suggesting they may play more there, and RGV implying Carli Lloyd might play tonight, is this the low point of the Dash?
The whole premise of entertainers/performers as role models is laughable. I guess they are better than idolizing the mafia, but there are much better people to idolize than celebrities. That's why I laugh at celebrities, and athletes that think we want to hear their political bull.
No one wants to hear it, but If they can articulate better than the usual sub-100 IQ NFL player I can at least respect it. Regardless, the NWSL is the sick patient with a long span terminal illness that you can keep alive but will never recover. The USSF will keep it afloat until 2019 WWC but it's done after that.
