That was a poor display against Jordan. Gosh aren't I glad that was a friendly. The team must realize by now that they have some serious work to do if they are to get a result in the Lebanon match.
I agree with you. Hong Kong will need a lot of work if they are going to get a result against Lebanon.
Hong Kong national team have arrived in Lebanon. Coach Kim thanks Jordan for their hospitality during their stay. He felt it was very beneficial as the early arrival to the region has allowed the team to adjust to the local climate and overcome jet lag.
Lebanon 2:0 Hong Kong That was a poor performance, especially in the first half, when we could not put two passes together. I think our possession in the first half was like 2%. I have absolutely no idea what kind of tactics would ask the players to give the ball away freely. We played better, relative to the first half, in the second half. By then Lebanon already had their victory more or less secured and stopped pressing. Even then we did not really threaten the Lebanon goal until the end when Ju Yingzhi hit the bar with his freekick. Sandro was useless as a striker. This was a shambolic performance. I am glad we are finished with our West Asia trip. Hopefully we get Alex Akande and Chan Siu-Ki back in our strike force in our remaining matches.
Coach Kim had a few months to solve the problem on defending the set pieces since East Asian Championship qualification, but he couldn't.
International friendly: 7 June Hong Kong vs Jordan So we will return the favour to Jordan. Let's hope we get Alex Akande, Chan Siu-Ki and Lam Kar-Wai back for this match and the qualifier against North Korea.
Former Eastern and South China head coach Yeung Ching-Kwong has returned from Chinese Jia League side Meizhou Kejia to Hong Kong, to become HK Pegasus assistant coach.
HKPL: R&F Guangzhou 0:5 Kwun Chung Southern District Eastern Longlions 5:3 Hong Kong Pegasus HK Football Club 1:6 South China Biu Chun GlorySky 1:5 Kitchee KMB Yuen Long 0:2 Wofoo Tai Po We had a goal fest this weekend. Eastern Longlions still lead by six points from Kitchee, who has a game in hand.
Kitchee 10:0 HKFC Kitchee is 3 points behind Eastern with better goal difference now. They will face each other in the final week of this season on May 6.
HKPL R&F Guangzhou 0:0 Biu Chun GlorySky South China 1:4 Wofoo Tai Po Lee Man Rangers 3:3 Eastern Longlions KMB Yuen Long 0:0 HK Pegasus HK Football Club will be relegated. Eastern Longlions lead by 4 points but Kitchee has one match in hand. The title looks likely to go to the final match of the season when the two clubs meet. Eastern Longlions are now in South Korea to prepare for the away ACL match against Suwon Bluewings.
I am not sorry they lost big. The way they have been leaking goals these past few weeks it was not too surprising. Eastern coach Chan Yuen-Ting said the players suffered from fatigue in the second half. I suppose so. On 15 April (Saturday) they have to play in the HK FA Cup against KMB Yuen Long so I don't think she can find a way to restore their fitness for that game. Eastern also have to play Kwun Chung Southern District on 21 April, 4 days before they host Guangzhou Evergrande. So Chan Yuen-Ting better works hard on keeping her players fit.
That sounds like a nightmare of a schedule for coach Chan Yuen-Ting. Anyways, here are the highlights:
HK FA Cup quarter finals: Eastern Longlions 4:0 KMB Yuen Long Kitchee 2:1 HK Pegasus Kwun Chung Southern District 3:1 Biu Chun GlorySky South China 1:1 (penalties 5:4) Lee Man Rangers Semi-finals: Eastern vs South China Kitchee vs Kwun Chung Southern District
HKPL Kitchee 2:0 HK Pegasus Kitchee is keeping up the pressure on Eastern. They are just one point apart. Kitchee will next play South China. Eastern will play Kwun Chung Southern District, before their final day match up on 6 May. I think Kitchee and Eastern will win their respective matches. The 6 May clash will likely see a huge crowd and HKFA should move it to the HK Stadium to accommodate more fans.
http://www.scmp.com/sport/soccer/ar...-asia-trophy-its-own-shanghai-fixtures-facing SCMP reports that Hong Kong may end up hosting both days of the Barclays Asia Trophy in the summer, instead of just one day.
http://orientaldaily.on.cc/cnt/sport/20170420/00286_003.html HKFA CEO Mark Sutcliffe said they are considering a tightening of the local player registration rule, currently players eligible for HKID cards are allowed to be registered as a local player, if the changes come through then only players with HK SAR passports will be allowed to register as local player. People with HK ancestry like Lam Zhi-Gin, Matthew Lam, Sean Tse etc, who have HK parents are permitted to play as a local player in the league. But they cannot represent HK national football team or register as local players in the ACL / AFC Cup. But I wonder if that will go through unchallenged in the courts of law, since local labour law allows people with valid HKID cards to work in Hong Kong.
