Yes! I've been waiting for this show for 6 months now I get the feeling its going to have a 24 feeling to it, which is always welcome
Looking forward to it as well. Very interesting premise. Similar to the remake of the Manchurian Candidate.
Can't wait to watch it - on DVD in a year or so. Guess that means I can wait to watch it. I spend enough on television that I can't justify any of the pay stations, given how little we would watch on the channel in a given week. But this, this would be good.
I pay for Showtime because I watch almost every show that is on it. FX and Showtime are the two networks where I will give everything they put on a try. I have stopped watching new shows for the most part except for things on FX and Showtime. With the rate things get cancelled now, I figure I can wait to see if shows pan out, how well people like them and then just check it out on DVD later down the road. I think I am going to give Alcatraz a show though when it starts in January. I am recording this show tonight and will watch it later this week.
A couple of things struck me as odd. 1. If Sergeant Brody has been turned (brainwashed) into an operative for the terrorists why wait so long to put him into service? Eight years? 2. The raid where he is rescued by US Special Forces does not ring true. Either the terrorists provided false information through informants that led them to the compound where Brody was held captive or the capture was entirely random. If planned, the terrorists are willing to trade the loss and capture of many of their operatives as well as the potential for captured terrorists to give up vital information, unless they were clueless of the operation.
I think that is one of the things the show is going to be about. My theory right now is that he has been brain washed and may not even know he has been turned. I think we will find more info about that as well as the show goes on. Claire Danes is not nearly as pretty as I remember her. I use to have a huge crush on her. It didnt take long for Morena Baccarin to get another job.
Wouldnt this whole show become moot if they just said, "Since you went through hell for 8 years we are going to discharge you, give you a nice sum of cash, and let you live out your days retired."
As I understand it the premise of this, (and The Manchurian Candidate for that matter), is that he becomes a more significant political asset in the long term because he's an ex-POW. That would be the case if he leaves the military.
You could say the whole point of "wouldn't this show be moot if..." about any show. Wouldn't "Entourage" be moot if those d-bags had never moved from LA? Anyway, I loved the first episode. One of the more exciting debuts of a new show in awhile for me. And I love Clare Danes in the role. She's a hot mess.
Finally got around to watching it last night, was kind of bored. It has potential, but it wasn't anything that knocked my socks off. Some scenes moved really slowly and I'm not buying how quickly Saul bought what Carrie was selling in regards to the hand twitching. Sure she could be onto something, but how quickly he changed his tune didn't seem realistic. And how quickly he changed his tune when he knows she has an illegal wiretap and cameras set up on him and his house. I'll give it a couple more episodes, but it's not something that's an absolute must watch.

Not sure that's really fair. If you think about it he's ALREADY in a whole load of trouble for involving her in the first place. If he can now retrieve the position by making it look, (regardless of how plausible it turns out to be in the long run), that she was onto something he can improve his own position, if not hers. Otherwise he has to go to them and say, 'Y'know that nutcase woman I introduced into the matter... she's done THIS'! Not exactly win/win, is it. As for the 'illegal wiretap'. I'm guessing that's not such a big deal with that sort of people.
or, has standards of attractiveness that are far more finely honed than yours. she's not unattractive, but hot? not so much. and finding an airbrushed photo of an actress? such a challenge...

She is a good looking girl. She has a beautiful face. Her only drawback is that she could stand to gain about 10lbs. She's just way too thin.
