I feel odd having to be the one to post this. However, the official magicJack web site still isn't up, and it seems as if they (and the league) might need whatever help they can get. So, here's the information that I could find about magicJack home games, stadium and tickets. Thank you for posting this. As of this morning, the team is still hope-less and without a website, but they are still "working hard" on an updated one. I can't wait to see what kind of attendance figures they are able to magic-ly jack in. Are there really only 300 permanent seats? If that is the case, I say they aren't charging enough! These seats could be the VIP section, then give the rest some standing room. If they are working as hard on stadium renovation as they are website revamping, they will have trouble. Does anyone have the updated roster? I recommend we keep updating all the active players bios on wikipedia, which I have started to do already. And I tried to submit magicJack sc to the fan database www.fanbase.com, but the admin there said they needed a real website link in order to complete that process so I'm back at square one.
I believe he can put 1000-1200 in the stands, just networking through his U-13/14 team/s and giving tickets to seniors in the Palm area for $8, just an evening to relax and watch a game with pretty girls. Old retired guys with money in the area will love Hope Solo. I'm not so concerned with the cost because I think he is more or less another version of Sahlen. You think Sahlen makes money off of tickets selling prime seats for $17 a piece plus FREE hots and soda if you show up at the tailgate at 5PM before the game. These guys already said the teams are in the RED and a write off, that they make up the money in other avenues with the teams as marketing tools My BIG question is, will he be gone after this season? This looks like a one year deal like AEG, and the league isn't saying anything. He agrees to keep the league afloat until the potential expansion clubs next season in exchange for $2M to keep the club going and his magicJack commercials during games at the beginning, half-time and the end on Fox Soccer. But the other part is the university is committed to putting up a 4000 seat deal for soccer if things work and he likes to win and put money in soccer to the pt he has a team which matches wny easily...just like he buys U13 players and teams. He has money but will eat $2M (cant see it being less), just on salaries, travel, condos for players, club house, etc, etc, etc. I just don't know what to think with this guy
The 318 capacity figure I gave comes from looking at various photos of the stands. I counted the seats manually (so my numbers might be slightly off), but I saw 8 rows of seats, 39 seats per row, plus 6 additional seats at the top of the stairs. This 2010 FAU Men's Soccer fact sheet also confirms a capacity of "300". However, it is possible that more seating might have been installed since then. There is conflicting information about the current and expected capacity of the venue for WPS: http://ourgamemagazine.wordpress.co...nfirms-that-magictalk-sc-will-play-on-campus/ Our Game Magazine, February 16, 2011 "The team will play at FAU Soccer Stadium on the varsity soccer complex, and [Asst. AD Mitch] Silverman said the plan is to bring in more seating to accommodate more fans. The additional seating will bring maximum capacity up to anywhere between 1,200 and 1,500, Silverman said." http://articles.sun-sentinel.com/20...a-0327-20110328_1_magicjack-soccer-league-wps Sun Sentinel, March 28, 2011, by Jeff Rusnak "The FAU soccer stadium seats 1,500, well short of the league minimum of 5,000." http://fauowlaccess.com/blogs/owlth...essional-soccer-could-find-a-home-at-fau.aspx FAUOwlAccess, February 13, 2011, by Chuck King "[FAU Athletic Director Craig] Angelos said the plan would be to bring in additional seating to FAU's main soccer field (located next to the Oxley Center football practice fields), raising the capacity to the neighborhood of 3,000. FAU would provide turnkey services, including ticket sales and event staffing." http://www.upressonline.com/getting-a-kick-of-freedom-1.2513304 University Press, March 14, 2011, by Philicia Douglas "In hopes of meeting the requirements of the league, Angelos plans to extend the current stadium to 3,000 seats by late April." Florida Atlantic University also mentioned the optimistic possibility of building a new soccer facility sometime in the future: http://fauowlaccess.com/blogs/owlth...essional-soccer-could-find-a-home-at-fau.aspx FAUOwlAccess, February 13, 2011, by Chuck King "Angelos said he hopes the first season goes well enough to allow the creation of a new soccer stadium on campus - perhaps over near the track - that would seat about 5,000 and allow the magicTalk SC to consider FAU more of a permanent home." FYI, the magicJack's practice facility is "magicJack Field" a half-hour drive north in West Palm Beach, FL. 2773 Summit Blvd, West Palm Beach, FL 33406 http://magicjackfield.com/
I will be at the May 8th game between MJ and Atlanta Beat in South Florida. I assume there won't be any problem gettin a walk-up ticket.
Thanks for the info on tickets. I hope to make the game on the 1st & have been asking around for ticket prices with no luck. Odd that I should find the answer to my questions on a forum for magicJack. Maybe I should have looked here 1st?....
