The CCL quarterfinals will be played during March 11-13 at home and during March 18-20 at Toluca, so there will be a CCL home game before the MLS opener.

Ostensibly this schedule change is being done because of CCL, but it doesn't make much sense to me. Previously there was a weekend off between the two midweek CCL games. Now the Quakes can be well-rested for the first leg, but will have to play an MLS game on short rest in between the two legs.

More time to prepare for Toluca. Makes sense to me.

Hope we have our team put together by the CCL game...

And a league match on the following weekend as well.

New schedule: Quakes play a mid-week home match in CCL (Mar 11-13), weekend league home opener (Mar 15), mid-week away match in CCL (Mar 18-20), then weekend league away match (Mar 22). That's 4 matches over a period of between 9-11 days with half of it on the road whereas previously it was the same number of matches but over a period of 14 days, so they're actually increasing schedule congestion with this move, as reported.

    Seems like idiocy.

Well at least the opener wasn't moved to AT&T Park...

I guess is ever there was a time to play RSL in a home opener again it's right after Kreis has left.
