Well, that sounds like a positive. Tall CB to pair with Parkhurst and provides a threat on set pieces. It helps. No doubt. The attack still needs bolstered. Especially up top.
re. Kamara. He may be a good addition, but is he worth the top allocation spot - that would be my question.
Well, it's not like a draft pick. If we don't use it on someone (or leverage it in a trade) then it goes away. So, yes. Would I prefer Juan Agudelo (yes), but I don't think that is happening. The hour is getting late on this, use it or lose it time now.
Agudelo's contract expired with New England. He isn't eligible for allocation. We could sign Kamara to a pre-contract because he is ineligible to play this season. I'm not sure WHEN the order resets: after the season or at the end of the year. And I'm not sure who would be at the top next year: NYCFC, Orlando, or Chivas. It really depends on whether or not Kei wants to return to MLS and then he'll be able to pick between a few teams. Or Kei could demand to go somewhere and if that team is interested, they could make a trade with whoever has the top spot (now or next year) to land Kei.
I'm happy with this. We should get a couple years from him and he has some great experience. About the allocation spot, it's obvious allocation doesn't always mean allocation. Even when the league allocates players they don't have to necessarily go through the process. Just another silly MLS gimmick that makes the league look foolish.
Allocation order resets on January 1. Pogatetz seems like a good signing. We could use more of an aerial presence in the backline.
If you can actually figure out MLS rules you are either the drunkest man alive or Calvinball World Champion.
Yeah, Jardy confirmed to me earlier that we hold the spot until it resets on 1 Jan. Which we could use on a pre-contract as well as well as some other method 3G said that the league confirmed but wouldn't speculate.
Who is she? Does she actually have some connection to Pogatetz? I hope he works out better than Mark Williams who brought his hot girlfriend but no talent.
As of right now looks like a good pick up. Good experience. Good size. It will be interesting to see how much we paid for him. But overall I am cautiously optimistic.
Says "He signed a 3 ½ year deal with the MLS until the end of the 2017 Season (optional) and this makes him the 5th highest paid defender in the MLS."
Just a quick look at the players salaries, this would put him around $300-325K/year depending on if they are basing that on the base salary or total compensation.
This coming from the guy who said we had too much cap money tied up in defense, right? Also, really Precourt, "move the needle", really? I say this as someone who actually thinks AP and Berhalter are moving us in the right direction
re: Kamara. No Thank you. Will I be sad that we failed to use the expiring allocation spot, yes? Do I want that classless asshat back on our team? F no!
I think it was more of we had too much money tied up in defenders he either didn't want on the team or who didn't want to be in Columbus anymore.
We can certainly afford to pay him 300K per full season. That's below the DP range. How well he plays is another question, he seems to not last very long in one place but he could be cut if required. At a minimum, he's another big body for our playoff run in 2014.
For Kamara? Yes, that's certainly possible. Probably won't happen until after the season, however. A team like SKC with title hopes isn't likely to give up anything this year for a benefit they'll get next.
Just remember The Crew have all that Allocation money from the sale of Gonzalez, I am wondering if they needed to use it?
