The secret to a good lobster roll @Dills is to use as minimal amount of dressing as possible. Also, it needs to be served on a New England style hot dog bun. Weird thing, I always was a fried clam guy growing up. If you want to get into a fight up there, declare one stand has "the best" clams. Wawa for life? I'm def. stopping next time.
I always thought American cheese on a Cheesesteak was a Delco thing. It's implied at those places. In the city you usually choose from Provolone or Wiz but American is an option in some places.
American "Cheese" is an abomination. A scourge on the world. It's not even technically a cheese. Restaurants should only offer Provolone or other actual cheeses.
Where is it then @Handsome Pete ? If your stone cold sober where do you go @Dills? Agree @celt1997. What's chez Wiz made of? And is it the #1 cheese choice?
In the end it's personal preference. Some people swear by Jim's/Pat's/Geno's. They're just not my favorites. There's a lot of love for Dalessandro's, but if given the choice I'd go with Chubby's across the street. Steve's on Bustleton is definitely solid. Chink's (Joe's) and John's Roast Pork are my two favorites. And the Lodge Steak at The Grey Lodge and the Tobias at McNally's are probably my favorites in the "non-traditional" steak category. Really the key is to eat at as many as you can and find your favorite. I'm sure there's dozens I've never been to...and that's part of the fun. Edit: I do like Dalessandro's, but I really need to be in the mood for it. The fine chop gives a different feel to the sandwich. That's sort of how I am with Mama's in Bala Cynwyd. It's a very good steak but it's so heavy with cheese it's another one I really need to be in the mood for.
The only people that think Wawa is better than Sheetz are ridiculously proud Philadephians. I'm ripe for hating on Western PA and their yinzer ways...but let's be honest...Sheetz is an entire class above Wawa. In every way, shape, and form. Sheetz and putting fries on sandwiches...the only things they do right over there in Pittsburgh weirdoland. Freaking gumbands and chippedchopped ham...wtf is wrong with those people...
I found Sheetz to have more preheated and pre-made stuff than Wawa. Though I must say, due to this they do seem to have more stuff.
Take away the preheated and premade stuff...and they still have way more options than Wawa. And it tastes better.
It all tastes microwaved. More options isn't necessarily a good thing. I'm not opposed to Hillbilly Wawa, but I don't think they can touch a Wawa hoagie.
I may be a ridiculously proud Philadelphian but I agree with this though my sample of Sheetz to Wawa meals has been very small.
They have more options and the majority of them are fantastic. The only thing Wawa's got is The Gobbler. Other than that, nothing compares to Sheetz's burgers, fries, chicken sandwiches, mozz sticks, etc. Philadelphians are so defensive of their Wawa...lmfao. I'm not from here so I don't have the same sense of loyalty I guess. But I honestly think all of you are members of a cult or something if you honestly think Wawa is better than Sheetz. It baffles me. Also, people in Central/Western PA aren't hill folk. If you aren't from WV, Kentucky, or Tennessee, you don't get to use that moniker. Those Pittsburgh bastards are something completely different. If you must, call it Yinzer Wawa or something.
If I want burgers and fries, I'm not choosing between Wawa and Sheetz. #RidiculouslyProudAndDefensivePhiladelphianCultMember
I'd imagine not if you could go anywhere. And if I want a hoagie from anywhere, I'm not going to Wawa or Sheetz, either. Their fries are pretty damn good though.
I'll use whatever moniker I want to denigrate the rest of the state outside of the Philly metro area.
Ok, fine, then I'll call you a Québécois. Because why not, it makes as much sense as calling someone from Altoona a hillbilly.
That's just because (some) people from Philly are too stupid to know the difference between the Plantation South, Appalachia, and the Rust Belt. I tell people I'm from WV and they always say I'm from "The South." That's like calling Delaware "The South." I digress. Point is, Sheetz is Rust Beltish, if anything.
Well done. You're winning friends and influence around here. Anyway, Wheeling isn't that much different from a place like Johnstown. Pennsyltucky but in a different state.
It should be noted while I might not love Sheetz I do love West Virgina. And spend at least one day of the year driving around the state eating hot dogs.
