Never was a penalty taker. The match was fun. Ended two-two after a gift penalty. Oh, and Bishop took a pen for the Internationals which James saved.
Hard to call any of them legends. Especially not in the company around them. Loved Anfield singing the Luis Garcia song as he went off.
I heard from a mate that the Espn Hillsborough doc can't be shown in the UK because of ongoing litigation against those responsible. Anybody else hear this? I've also heard from a few mates it's the best and most comprehensive doc they've ever seen about Hillsborough. I would agree.
I went to see a play in Liverpool last week before the Man city game called Beyond Hillsborough. Written by Joanne Halliday. It was performed by children using the actual words of families, advocates and survivors. It was absolutely stunning. So moving but mostly motivational. I came out of that theatre just motivated to do more. A wonderfully written play that they are trying to get into schools around the world. Joanne is a school teacher and did a fabulous job putting this together and I recommend it to anyone who gets a chance, buy the screenpaly and read it with your families.
They have a special report on LFC TV on it. If you're a member. http://www.liverpoolfc.com/video/features/12432-beyond-hillsborough
I have been given a link for a youtube stream of the entire ESPN 30 for 30 hillsborough documentary. I'd rather not put the link up here (since it can be trawled) so please PM me if you'd like me to send it to you.
I remember hearing about this on the news when it happened. It sounded terrible, but it was across the Atlantic and soon forgotten. I aid a prayer as I often do upon hearing of a tragedy, but nothing more. Recently, I was lucky to have seen the ESPN 30 for 30 documentary on this event. It is gut-wrenchingly sad and really opened my eyes to what happened. It deeply affected me. I feel deeply for the survivors and family members of that terrible day. I had been a casual fan of Premier League, but nothing serious. After watching that documentary and doing a minor bit of researching on my own, I can say that I am now a die-hard Liverpool supporter. Welcome aboard -- and if you have questions about it please ask. We don't bite like our soon to be gone forward around here
must watch for anyone - no matter what club they follow...also "The Two Escobars" - gripping and depressing. my up-most respect to all the Hillsborough families for keeping up the good fight and bringing the truth to the fore-front.
Beeb reporting today that David Duckenfield, police match commander at Hillsborough that day has finally admitted lying about unruly LFC supporters forcing open the gates to the pens, that he had actually ordered the gates opened. Mr. Duckenfield then goes to some lengths explaining how contrite he is and how he has suffered with this. Only took him 26 years and a second inquiry to come forward. What a guy.
Easy on commentary regarding this. Fans are being warned not to comment due potentially putting outcome of inquiry at risk.
Your actions lead directly to people dying. And your response is to cover it up and blame it on the dead who can't defend themselves. A decent human being would have admitted to this years ago. Admitting to it now, because you have no choice, does not suddenly make you a decent human being Mr. Duckworth.
I understand why they have that warning on RAWK. There are people on RAWK who are in the hearings and may be called to witness. I am neither in the hearings or being called as a witness. In addition everything I have commented on is being widely covered by the national (and international media)
The media is allowed to report what happens without comment but because something was reported doesn't mean you can comment on it. Do what you want, but if you don't think parties with an interest aren't going to be googling Hillsborough and this won't be found you are kidding yourself. Have some respect and do what the families have asked and resist the need to comment.
Another year, and more waiting for justice for the dead and for the families. Remember the 96, keep the faith, keep the fight. YNWA
Anyone have an end date for the inquest...? Last I heard was verdict should come early in the New Year...
