They had a decent patch in the last match.. but our surges were way more marked.. I heard all the breakdowns saying the second half was theirs. I think it largely was, but the introduction of lozano allowed us to absorb a bit of pressure and mount quick counters. I thought the final ten minutes were overwhelmingly ours... I listened to a few reactions after the game and they were blaming their 3-5-2 for Mexico's dominant first half, as if Mexico ONLY uses a 3-4-3 under Osorio
And they pretty much only play in mx on the one competitive date per cycle... Sent from my VS870 4G using Tapatalk
They're right to blame it a bit.. the players begging out of it openly during guardis' injury probably lent a blow to jurgen's final coffin nail... we were shelling them. I don't think layun had to retreat past midfield in the first thirty. By the same token, though, no guardis aided their surge from about 40' to 70'. Sent from my VS870 4G using Tapatalk
But at home where they're undefeated vs Mexico, with three of their centerbacks on the field (some claim the best in concacaf). Seems a bit fetched that now they all of a sudden don't understand a formation or have chemistry. Will be funny, though, to see how Arena sets them up...
They have slightly less talent than we do.. I don't know why they field besler, but the dude must have his moments, since I don't watch their league. Brooks can be very good, but shat it.. Haven't been paying attention, but are the Germans in for playing for arena? Sent from my VS870 4G using Tapatalk
Besler has been consistently one of their better center backs for quite some time. He is not great, but is steady and from what I've seen, that sometimes allows them to place Geoff Cameron at LB, if I'm not wrong.
Arena has definitely had to retreat some of his comments about the NadGermans, he was highly critical of prior coaches using them. I bet he uses them, perhaps not as many, but a fair chunk.
Yeah, and he's actually decent on the ball, and a good set-piece threat at 6'4 or whatever.. can play three spots. He also doesn't seem like a dckhead.. Sent from my VS870 4G using Tapatalk
Never said he wasn't, I said that Besler was solid enough to not leave the nads vulnerable when they moved Cameron away from his preferred CB position.
I think that this game and that moment was probably what set off the player mutiny in Costa Rica. I'm interested to see what Arena will do with the US team. Honduras always plays the US tough and Panama is no easy team either. The US also has a negative goal difference that could be a huge factor as the Hex goes on. I could see Honduras getting a point against the US at home and I could see Panama sitting back and playing for a point as well against the Yanks as well especially if they beat T&T before their match against the US.
