Now that Herbalife is being exposed for the pyramid scheme it really is, it seems the writing is on the wall that the company is in turmoil.

Perhaps we'll finally get a decent kit sponsor and have a respectable logo on our front chest. Never was a fan of phony supplements as a partner.

We’re a long way from needing/wanting a new sponsor. Herbalife was found guilty of being a pyramid scheme in Europe, but the judgement was overturned months later and Europe has much stricter laws on MLM.

So the mere beginning of an investigation constitutes "exposure"? You have one hell of a lot more faith in the government than I do.

Dude, until a check bounces they aren't going anywhere. I doubt we could get a replacement sponsor to pay as much anyway. It's the shady companies that aren't mainstream that will overpay for kit sponsorship anyway. Any replacement will be just as shady. We will end up with some dick enlargement pill company on our shirt. Don't think AEG wouldn't go for that if the check was big enough.

StubHub would be the likely replacement, in fact I bet there was an option in the renaming of the stadium contract that gave first right of refusal on taking over the kit sponsorship. As much as I hate Portland and Seattle, at least their kits look credible with legitimate companies on them. Have never been a fan of Herbalife as a kit sponsor, and anywhere I wear the jersey (casually) people assume I am some darn sales rep. :-/

I'm not a fan of having the same kit and stadium sponsors.

eh, i think if herbalife really starts to get tons of negative press (which it really has not yet) then the Galaxy may drop them so they aren't attached the negative press. something unexpectedly bad must happen before stubhub explodes over the news tho

This is far-fetched, but Apple would be a really interesting sponsor. One of the largest companies in the world, and I don't think they sponsor any sports team at the moment. It most likely (99.9% chance) won't happen though.

I think Tesla Motors would be a pretty cool sponsor as well.

If we're going local, I'd welcome a company like SpaceX (from Hawthorne).

    Nice concept.

Almost a year since this thread was started and the mlm co/pyramid-scheme is still our jersey sponsor. So I guess they haven't been exposed just quite yet.

In recent Herbalife news, "federal law enforcement agencies reached out to top members of the nutritional-supplement company with questions about the company’s business practices." So I guess that means their demise is imminent.

Meanwhile, another mlm co became the league's "official sports nutrition partner."

SpaceX would be a fitting Galaxy sponsor.

I am tired of people thinking I work for Herbalife when I wear my gear. So annoying!

If the checks still clear it's a good sponsor in MLS' eyes. Hell SKC were paying Livestrong up to and after Lance was stripped of his TdF titles. It was only after Livestrong accused SKC of not paying the full amount owed did the sponsorship end.

SKC was paying Livestrong? That's not what I think of as a "sponsorship."

If LA wanted to go the nutrition sponsor route, I wish they would go with companies that aren't MLM like Cytosport/Muscle Milk, Optimum Nutrition, Cellucor, etc.

I don't think it is so much LAG wanting a nutrition company. It's a question of what company, any type of business, wants to pay the most money to sponsor LAG.

Oh I see. I was thinking that these sponsorships and/or endorsements were like individual athletes and shoe companies or sports drinks.
