So can someone give us an update as to what the status of Cleveland USL and if its affiliated with AFC Cleveland
How can we start the grassroots movement? Is there a bar where soccer fans get together in Cleveland? Who would be the indicated person to lead the supporters group if a team comes to Cleveland?
I dont know much about the team. But even if their supporters group is miniscule, they still comprise of the group of people who bothered to rally behind lower division soccer in Cleveland. Even if they dont lead the movement to bring USL.....they might hop on board and support it
http://fox17online.com/2016/07/23/g...-campaign-ends-with-pk-loss-to-afc-cleveland/ in the NPSL Midwest Regional Championship on Saturday night, with AFC Cleveland claiming a 3-1 advantage in kicks from the spot after 120 minutes of scoreless play.
How 'bout that - @AFCCleveland will host a team from NoCal (@SonomaCountySol) in the @NPSLSoccer final!

Went to the AFC Cleveland championship game. Great energy at the stadium, although I think they could've chosen a better venue than Independence High School's limited seating stadium.
I actually went to the NPSL Semi-Final match played in NJ...there were more Cleveland supporters in the stands than Clarkstown supporters.
Any chance of a Crew affiliation? A baseball-style affiliation like the Dynamo/RGV Toros situation would seem to be beneficial to both sides (Crew can market in Cleveland and the Cleveland USL team can save money on soccer ops costs).
Things can change but the Crew haven't had much going on with affiliations. They were affiliated with Dayton Dutch Lions in 2014, Austin Aztex in 2015 and currently the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. The first two teams are no longer playing in the USL (Austin is technically on hiatus). Columbus has seemingly done the minimum in term of relationship and the number of players loaned down. The trend for MLS2 teams is to have them in the same market or at least very close. Dynamo/RGV and to a lesser extent Union/Bethlehem Steel and Orlando/Orlando B are the exceptions among the 11 MLS teams that have "2" teams. But even those last two have the USL team practice with the MLS team and then just bus out to the nearby city for games. The Dynamo situation arose at least partly because the Valley had a business man already running a NBA D-League team for the Houston Rockets. Doing the same for the Dynamo was a natural expansion. We will see what Columbus does going forward but if Cleveland wants to be in that situation they need to have a local investor who also wants it.
Peter Wilt said on the Inverted Triangle Podcast that he is advising a group that wants to bring pro soccer to Cleveland
Not necessarily as Club 9 works with groups that deal with both according to his recent interviews. Prior posters insisted on USL in the works so I would expect that unless something different comes out.
