An easy 3-1 win against Heracles Almelo to keep pace among the top 4. Larsson and St. Juste were standouts once again and continue to be in peak form. Coming up next is the Cup match on Thursday vs FC Eindhoven and an important test against Feyenoord next Sunday.
Would have liked to claim all 3 points but a 2-2 draw versus Feyenoord on the road is a decent result. Zeneli's goal was an absolute screamer. Thorsby filled in nicely for van Amersfoort. Mulder made some critical saves to keep this game close. Kobayashi has also turned out to be a very quality signing and solid contributor. He's the type of midfielder that this team was missing last season.
Quite competitive to get into the starting 3 midfield spots right now. Schaars is captain, while van Amersfoort and Kobayashi have been in stellar form. Namli and Thorsby have also worked hard to earn playing time in the rotation.
Van Aken has been steady and reliable. St Juste's back to central defence has been beneficial. These two have developed into a really formidable duo.
St Juste, Thorsby, Zeneli, Kobayashi, and Mulder all in the team of the week. http://www.telegraaf.nl/telesport/2...3_keer_Feyenoord_in_Elftal_van_de_Week__.html
Heerenveen are scouting another Japanese midfielder, Yosuke Ideguchi from Gamba Osaka. He's reportedly also drawn interested from VVV-Venlo and Hannover 96. http://www.feanonline.nl/nieuws/130...r-van-sc-heerenveen-.html#32H0kpWUMTUofehW.97
Back on the winning track after the 3-1 victory on the road against Go Ahead Eagles. Ghooch bagged a brace, while Kobayashi scored his first Eredivisie goal. This result came at a steep cost though, as St. Juste left this game with an ankle injury. Appears there could be ligament damage. There was considerable transfer rumors brought up for him prior to this happening.
Samba Sam scores twice and provided the difference maker in the 2-1 win vs Excelsior today. The front three of Larsson, Ghooch, and Zeneli continue to be very reliable this season. With each player taking stepping up on the production side when needed. Seems like Doke Schmidt will be the defender to start alongside van Aken until St. Juste returns in January.
A wasteful loss against Willem II to close out the calendar year. Looks like the Larsson departure rumors are back which are not surprising. Just hope the club can hold onto him until the summer at least. Would be unfortunate if he leaves during the course of this campaign. Especially when there's such effective chemistry in the attacking front three, and also battling for a Europa spot.
Martin Odegaard is close to signing a loan move to Heerenveen. http://www.marca.com/en/football/real-madrid/2016/12/27/5862a37ae2704ec90e8b45db.html
So how will this affect the team. Schaars is at DM. St Juste can slot in LB,DM,LCB,RCB, Van Aken is also there. May be change in formation. 3-4-3 or 4-2-3-1.
Shouldn't impact the defensive set up in the starting XI necessarily too much. Odegaard is an attacking midfielder, so the main player to be affected might be van Amersfoort in the 3-man midfield. Unless Larsson gets sold, they may play him along the wing. Or at least alternate between other current options. I don't expect Odegaard to be an automatic starter right away though. He needs to earn his spot.
Real Madrid, according to Marca, just sent their youngest ever Real Madrid debutant supertalent Martin Ødegaard to join Heerenveen on loan.
Te Vrede is no longer in the coach's plans and won't be participating for the winter training camp. He'll likely be sold on the transfer market. 16 year old Kik Pierie has been invited though and will train with the senior team.

Wow, shoot out at parking lot of Heerenveen. The sponsor of a skating team has been shot and wounded on his hand. According to the police it was a business conflict. The shooting caused panic among the bystanders.
Pretty shocking news. Fortunately, Jonker is in stable conditions. According to police, the suspect is known however still on the run.
Heerenveen are in negotiations with Motala AIF for Swedish midfielder, Ivan Rako. Probably of transfer are currently at a fifty-fifty chance. http://www.feanonline.nl/m/13627
Martin Odegaard to be unveiled tomorrow, as he joins on a 18-month loan. Looks like this could be the end of Simon Thern though. Rumors say that he is on his way to NEC Nijmegen.
^^18 month loan for Odegaard? I didn't know it would be that long. I don't think he is ever going back to Madrid.
