We'd have to actually churn out some talent from the academy first. The fire are only the 3rd best Chicago area team in the DA standings right now...
Halfway down page 2?!?! C'mon man! Click here. I don't have the Athletic prescription. "The biggest expansion projects for the league aren't in Miami or Nashville. They're in places like Dallas and Chicago."Adding teams is exciting, but it can't mask MLS's struggles in crucial markets. Wrote about that reality in my @TheAthleticSCCR debut.https://t.co/LHvPUZNQuJ— Sam Stejskal (@samstejskal) April 24, 2019
^^^ I used to work with a guy named Smokey who had a thick Pittsburgh accent and would freely interchange prescription for subscription and vice versa. Actual Smokey quote: "I gotsta go dahn the pharmacy and pick up my ol' lady's subscription... she's got the sugarbieties 'nat."
It has more to do with the academy players. But the MLS catch is that they are not going to pay T/C to any club outside of the MLS DA system in the US.
It will be interesting to see if when they do come out with the announcement of the move to soldier Field next year if the announcement of Hauptman selling the rest of his fire share is also included. To fill Soldier field they are going to have to spend big money on players.

Maybe there will be trifecta when the move to Solder Field finalized (#HauptmanOut, NRodOut & #PaunoOut)
Guess I'll stick this here. Uh, that's 2 wins by my count. And I didn't realize the Fire were about to play a bank? I'd say it blows my mind that this message was able to go out, but it completely doesn't. What an embarrassment.
Oof. Back in the Wooden Spoon years I played in a Fire Pitch league with a couple of the team's ticket reps. Actually felt bad for them in the position they were in trying to sell a product that no one really wanted to buy. Seemed like a thankless low on the totem pole position. Plus, I STILL get my yearly call from the Philadelphia Union office every spring asking about season tickets, and every year I tell them I haven't lived in Philly in 8 years.
I get the call from Colorado every year. Several years back, I bought tickets to a Rapids/Fire match while I was visiting family in the Denver area. One game. They still call every year and I tell them, "I don't live there."
I love how their stadium is practically in that bison reserve. I also find it ridiculous that people think that stadium is too far out of downtown. It's like 25 mins, tops.
I receive 3 or 4 emails a year (in French) from the Impact, as I ordered tickets to the Fire v. Impact match 4 years ago. No Section 8 trip.
After helping organize road trips for six years I got emails from most teams. I eventually had to unsubscribe. It was absurd. Red Bull was the worst. I almost couldn't get those to stop.
Some friends of mine described DSGP as "Out on the Plain" even though from their home in the east side of Denver, the stadium is only a mile or two farther east than they live. Just from the perspective of the smaller metro area, the stadium feels farther out than it actually is. I was surprised by how much closer it is to downtown when I looked at a map, though I'm also partially biased by the fact my parents live out in Lakewood on the other side of the metro area. What doesn't help at all is the fact that it's surrounded by almost no commercial establishments nearby. Even the Sporks' home ground and Frisco at least have some places to eat close by. Totally different atmosphere than, say, Coors Field, where you have a ton of places to eat and drink afterwards withing walking distance.
Arena: You don't have to spend like Atlanta to win championship, this is the kind of things Hauptman loves in a coach. I wonder why we didn't go after Arena, oh wait we would of had paid him DP money.
This has, amazingly, fallen to Page 2. If it fell to Page 3, would we have to see a picture of Hauptman topless, like in "The Star"?
