I didn't have my glasses on and misread the thread title as "Hauptman Smells." I thought this would be about his elevator prowess. Carry on.
I for one want to thank NRod for the ESPN+ deal and the clarity of the lack of ambition because he just made it much easier for me to follow Ajax FC on the television and save a bunch of money on season tickets and parking for 2019.
So, I'm gonna say something controversial here: Politically Conservative Sports Owners are usually better than Politically Liberal Sports Owners. I don't know why that is, there's just some really weird correlation. Doesn't mean that I agree with their politics, but it's a thing. Look at the Ricketts in baseball, look at Bob Kraft (for the Patriots). While there's owners like Arthur Blank and the Eagles' owner who are more on the left side, a majority of NFL owners are republican. Hauptman threw a party for that guy who was Hillary's running mate who no one remembers his name (was it Kaine?). Hauptman also sucks at being an owner and won't pay for anything or hire the right people. The Ricketts make large donations to the RNC. They also hired the right people for the job when it came to their team and helped end a 100+ year championship drought. I honestly don't care about the political affiliation of an owner unless they are literally a nazi or overtly problematic. This doesn't seem like either of those things. I'll say something if I see something.
Also, please don't drag me into an actual political conversation, there's a reason I avoid the Politics thread.
Most super rich people are Republican. Most sports teams are owned by super rich people. Most sports teams are owned by Republicans. This is a pretty simple concept.
As someone who is otherwise a Detroit fan for all non-soccer sports, I'm comforted by the fact that the Lions are only owned by the descendants of Nazi sympathizers instead of currents ones.
