Otalvaro was a big promise back then, but never succee anywhere except America and also not that much. He failed in Ukraine, failed in other places (I think also in Peru) and it seems that his career going nowhere. And then came Millonarios and so far he is doing OK, but surely not good enough for Pekerman. If you ask me, the first MF that should be called from our league is Cristian Marrugo no doubt but I don't think that Otalvaro should be even no. 2 or 3 with all the respect.
Not only that, Marrugo was the captain of this NT and also scored a magnificent goal vs. Venezuela in the last game (we won 0-2, second goal in a free kick by Rodallega)
captain was abel Otalavaro was 3rd in 2003 world cup and 4th in the u-17 of the same year....., i think that marrugo too in the u-17ç
I wasn't clear myself enough. I ment that Marrugo was the captain vs. Venezuela which was the final match (Abel didn't play) and eventually he lifted the cup.
WTF?!?!? It's very hard to believe. Just to be clear, I do think that Harrison is very talented player, I still remember me "marking" him as our next future star after the Mundialito 2005 in Holland, but nothing really happened. 6 good months in Colombia still didn't make you a beeter player but I ado agree that a good performance in an international tournament can open doors for him.
Otalvaro got injured and his career stalled. Guy is still young but he isn't 1/2 the talent that Abel is. I can see him in a regulation to midtable team in Spain but not Atletico. I'd love to be proven wrong. He is a good player but a mid table team in a top 4 Euro league at best.
