Maloney winning a few 50-50 balls in the midfield

 

Maloney is playing a decent game.

 

His game is well suited for the sand lot.

Actually, I like the kid. Hard nosed. Hard worker.

 

Room is quick and has made some nice saves this game. He's quick and big. But am I seeing things as I question his lateral explosiveness? A couple of times, including first goal last game, I felt like he doesn't get out very far and quickly left and right. Too early for me to make that call of course, but I thought I saw it again on the disallowed header.

I don't want to let Porter off the hook, at all. But I'd venture to say we are playing with two players, max, who would start on another MLS team.

Why does every player think to cross the ball immediately when they get near the box with a step on the defender?

I’m thinking that if NY is going to play on this little field then perhaps 8 vs 8 is called for.
