Oh I long for the days of the Mandrell sisters, especially the one that didn't actually play an instrument.
Speaking of old references, here's a scouting preview of Hadji... And if you're a certain age, THAT is what you think of when you hear his name.
Or he might just head to Florida: Twenty-one players familiar with the residency program in Bradenton, Fla. have been summoned again by Williams for the spring semester roster, and they are joined by new additions McKenzie Gaines, Eric Matzelevich, AJ Palazzolo, Raheem Taylor-Parkes and Jaret Townsend as well as U-15 Boys’ National Team midfielder Jose Carranza and goalkeeper Eric Lopez. Fifteen of the 28 were part of the U.S. U-17 side that recently finished in first place at the Nike International Friendlies in December, including tournament MVP Christian Pulisic, Golden Boot winner Haji Wright and Golden Glove winner Kevin Silva.
Last summer he played Bad Kissingen Germany for FC Fullham as a guest player. According to sources he struggle against German high pressure and tight marking. Fullham finished 7 out of 8. Hopefully a year makes a difference. BvB has a deep pool of players, which include a hand full Of german national players.
From the LA Galaxy website yesterday: Named to the U.S. squad for the Copa Mexico de Naciones was Galaxy Academy product Haji Wright, who was listed as unattached to an academy in a U.S. Soccer press release. Wright trained earlier this year with the Galaxy first team, but has also been linked with a move to Germany where giants Schalke are a rumored suitor. http://www.lagalaxy.com/blog/beat/2...-lopez-and-abraham-romero-called-internationa
Schalke fans, do you guys have a good youth academy? How would it compare to the other top youth academies in Germany and Europe?
We have the best youth academy in Germany Seriously, though, we probably have the best youth academy in Germany. We were semi-finalists in the U19 "Youth" Champions League last year, and we've won the U19 and U17 titles several times over the last few years. Our U19 team has won our A-Bundesliga division (which includes 'Gladbach, Leverkusen, Dortmund, ect) 4 years in a row. More than half our starting 11 is former youth players, and we've also obviously sold youth products such as Ozil and Neuer in recent years. Forgot to mention that we don't normally look outside Germany for youth players. This would be a bit unusual, for us. Thanks. We have a thread for Schalke youth team discussion; I might post this there. There are a couple Bosnian dual-nationals in our academy and a few Bosnian national team fans that update on their progress regularly. http://forums.bigsoccer.com/forums/fc-schalke-04.1566/
I'll raise you both Still doubt this happens. I'd be super impressed if it does. We don't take on foreign youth players unless they have guaranteed first team potential.
