A new thread to track the progress of this season's biggest surprises in the Bundesliga. Coach Dardai has this team playing exciting and competitive football. Will be interesting to see if they can maintain this strong form into the Rückrunde.
I felt that in the end it was a fair result. Hertha got ahead by two goals twice, but Werder never gave up and fought hard for the draw.
Hertha with a good chance to reach the DFB Pokal semi-finals as they take on Heidenheim away tomorrow. Werder and Dortmund already qualified.
3:1 with 30 minutes to go, should be a win. Semi final will of course be an away match Injury to Kalou, something about the interiour ligament in the right knee. Unfortunate.
Heidenheim pull one back after a penalty to make it 2-3. Looks like it was Weiser who brought down one of their guys. Jarstein guessed right on the direction of the penalty but couldn't quite get a touch to stop it. Just have to hold on to the lead now with under 10 mins to go. Dardai subbed on Stark for more defensive coverage. Apart from the foul, Weiser had a really solid game going forward helping on the attack. Assisted on both of Ibisevic's goals.
Are you sure Kalou's injury is serious? He appeared to be in decent mood when he walked off the pitch giving his jersey to a fan.
Verdacht auf Muskelfaserriss im rechten Oberschenkel bei Salomon Kalou. Gute Besserung! #hahohe— Hertha BSC (@HerthaBSC) February 10, 2016 Well, at least Hertha gets a home match for the semi-finals versus Dortmund.
Nice to see another thread for the old lady. Gave up on the last one after it turned into a monologue
Playing against Stuttgart on the road this weekend, might be a tough one. They're undefeated in 6 games with 4 wins in a row, and also have the best record so far in the Rückrunde. Looking forward to a good match.
Depends on the central three. If Lustenberger, Skjelbred and Darida can play, Hertha will most likely win. If even one of them is out, Stuttgart has a very good shot. Hegeler is not a good replacement and Dardai doesn't consider Cigerci 90 minutes fit yet appearantly.
Tough result, critical moment was when Brooks struck the post. Score would have been leveled at that point, and possibly alter the outcome. Depth and fitness is going to be an important factor at this point of the season. Schieber makes his return though. If he's able to score again like last season, then he'll play a good contributing role to this team.
Weiser and Kalou return to training with the team. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...l_weiser-und-kalou-zurueck-auf-dem-platz.html
Was Dardai being a complete arse towards Hecking on the touchline? It looked really infantile and embarrassing, but I haven't seen any English-language reports yet to find out if there was any important context.
He was "being an arse" towards the fourth official, due to Ibisevic being carded at his first foul after being consistently fouled with no punishment. Justifiable, if pointless. Both him and Preetz made statements about the Ibisevic situation after the match.
According to Bild, Hertha are close to signing Ondrej Duda on a 5-year contract. Would be a quality addition for the midfield. He also drew attention from clubs like Arsenal and Fiorentina after his good form during the Euros. http://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/hertha-bsc/lockt-duda-mit-5-jahres-vertrag-46862584.bild.html

Esswein could be an alright filler for the rotation. But I think a youngster like Sinan Kurt could be a better long-term option in the long run if given the chance.
Pretty favorable match up for Hertha, as you guys will face Brondby IF in the 3rd qualification round of the Europa League. First game will be played in Berlin next Thursday on July 28, with the away leg on August 4 in Denmark. http://www.ligainsider.de/hertha-bsc/6/hertha-trifft-auf-broendby-152807/
