New name on the trophy this year.

    Who will it be?

Al Nasr, 3x UAE League Champions
    3x UAE Emir Cup champions
    3x UAE Union Cup champions

Saham, 1x Sultan Qaboos Cup champions
    1x Omani League Cup champions

Al Nasr must be the favourites right?

    Groups were drawn today.

Group A: Suwaiq (Oman), Al Rayyan (Qatar), Taawon (Saudi Arabia)
Group B: Al Arabi (Qatar), Al Seeb (Oman), Al Shabab (UAE)
Group C: Manama (Bahrain), Kazma (Kuwait), Al Nasr (?)
Group D: East Riffa (Bahrain), Al Faisaly (Saudi Arabia), Al Jahra (Kuwait)

Awaiting an English news source for the groups as Google Translate did a mediocre job on translating the Al Kass article.

It's laughable really.....Al Rayyan, I mean, play continental football just to keep them active?

East Riffa and Manama have both chosen this competition over the AFC Cup, which probably tells you just what they think of the AFC run competition.

In Group C, i can only assume Al Nasr is the Dubai club, to fill the blanks.

lol yes, I would have preferred the QFA to send both the relegation zone clubs rather than a Second Division club and a team which somehow attained the worst ACL record in history in 2012.

To be honest, it's no secret that the GCC provides stronger competition than the AFC Cup. I'm sure the Bahrain FA would rather send their clubs to play against professional clubs from Qatar, UAE and Saudi Arabia instead of a Syrian or Tajik team.

Saudi clubs entries are pretty strong and have good chances to win if they perform with there full potential..

This tourney should be cut short or say re formatted .. Have a team in each group host matches for the group and all the group winners play each other in semis two legged and final with two legs again or single final for which the venue is decided during the draw..
