Osvaldo was pretty great IMO. Most hate came from club rivalries and from not retiring from MXNT when he should have.
We need a GK who can have a GOOD European career. We havent had anything close to Tim Howard, Keylor Navas, Sergio Romero, Julio Cesar, Claudio Bravo, or David Ospina. Oswaldo wasnt close to these guys.
Why? If he's going to be like Podolski who never broke out for any top club but was great for his country then I'm fine with that. Also All those you mentioned are mediocre except for Howard.
Straight up. Those cats showed up for their CLUBS when needed. Memo has I think a good record for MEX, but it'd be nice to see him perform for a good team at a good level
Gotta give it to these Belgian teams. Their crests are beautiful for the most part. They only have 2 or 3 MLS looking bootleg ass ones. Mexico has 4-5 hideous ones with Lobos BUAP currently in the league.
That's a lie. Ochoa is on those fool's level and so was Oswaldo. GK has not been a problem for Mexico since I've been around.
Whatever you say. In the more competitive european leagues he's only been lower table teams. Why is that? Why does someone like Howard and Romero get a crack at Manchester United and Memo doesnt? Why Bravo at Barcelona and Man City? Ospina at Arsenal? I don't want to hear anything about clembluterol. They made superior teams because they are superior goalkeepers. I love Memo Ochoa, but hes not on that level.
Maybe because Memo doesn't want to be a back-up like those guys are/were? At the international level, you don't think Memo is at their level? Ridiculous.
All those guys had playing time as a starter. My point is those teams weren't interested in Ochoa. Kaylor Navas is a full time starter for the best team on the planet. Cmon, you think Memo is on that level? Honestly. International? No, those players in their prime were more consistent.
Not fully, but partially not having a Euro passport hurts his chances. To take a foreigner spot for a non-field player is very tough. Navas, Bravo, and Ospina all had EU citizenship before making their jumps to bigger clubs. Romero and Howard qualified for the Work Permit rules in England. Again this isn't fully why, but Memo floating around league to league did not help his case.
This guy single handedly saved ajacio from regulation and saved el tri so many times. If anything being in shitty teams has helped him be a beast. I dont understand the hate he gets.
Yep he ain't at their level. He's too good to be a backup at Arsenal, Manchester United, and Manchester City like all those bums you mentioned.
