Hilarious that people were comparing this guy to De Gea and some even saying he was better! The gap between them is monumental and that has been exacerbated even more at Madrid. He played his best football at Atletico and regressed to merely a "good" keeper at Chelsea. Was never in the same ball park as DDG while he was over in the EPL and he's comfortably and inferior keeper to Navas too.
Not all that.. Pretty underwhelming signing and a clear downgrade from last season. Flo has made a ton of poor decisions these last few year..
Courtois of Atleti was THE best keeper in the world for me that time. And we're talking about the time Neuer was still at his prime. WTF happened to him!! It's like his reactions have got slower. At first I thought that was a very well struck FK right in the top corner but yeah on reviewing, that's on the GK taking few steps forward rather than backwards when the ball is still in air
He made a mistake. So has Navas in the past, many, many times. Navas has one thing over him; he's more suitable for the chaotic style of defense that we have right now while Courtois would benefit more from an organized defense. GK position is not a problem, with a more solid defense he's gonna be more than good enough for us.
Courtois is a good goal keeper but from everything I have seen from him thus far he is a tier or two below the likes of Oblak and Ter Segen and even Navas at his best. Those guys literally carry their teams at times, Courtois just cannot seem to be that good, he’ll make the occasional good save but for the most part when it’s on target it’s a goal, he doesn’t make those saves that make you go “ HOW!”. His reflexes seems shot and he always looks like he is caught in two minds, meh not a GK we should bank on for the next few years I think we should keep looking, he is good but far from great.
didn't like this transfer, and still don't think he is upgrade us.. De Gea's contract is expiring in 30.6 we can still steal him and sell Courtois ..we will get some money+signing a better GK
In hindsight, it's safe to say Real Madrid made a mistake with this one. There's no reason to replace Keylor Navas who's still a top GK in his prime.

Well, at least they’re funny lol Poor Courtois though it’s not his fault, the blame falls on Perez’s laps for unnecessarily bringing him over. Madridistas sometimes chant Keylor Keylor because they are huge fans of Navas so yea....
I think when Navas made mistakes he would make up for it with impressive saves and keeping the scoreline tight providing oxigen to our guys to score and get back in the games. This last game Asensio scored, closing the gap to just one more goal, and then all that oxygen was all immediately taken away when he gave up that stupid free kick goal.. it killed us right there.
Point not why we signed him but why he was automatic starter ?? to buy very good keeper who is only 26 for 35 brilliant deal, however to start him just like that other such an amazing squad memeber for years like Navas..
We need a quick reflex, quick out of his line, good distribution keeper. None of these are Courtois strengths, I dont know how wise this signing was.
This one isn’t totally critical to how we play but it would be a nice change if our keeper wasn’t below average with his feet.
Apparently, the only thing above his pay scale was not selecting Bale to the squad. That's where we draw the line.
