So I'm watching the Gold Cup here in the USA, and Guadeloupe is making a big run. After beating Canada 2-1, they've advanced to the quarterfinals, and are currently beating Honduras 2-0!!!

If they win this game they play Mexico! And with the way Mexico has been playing in the tournament, we may see a Guadeloupe - USA final!!

French dominance lies not only in Europe.

Probably because he supports both teams...

Hmm, according to the FFF site, we've played the US only twice in 79. A 3-0 and a 6-0 victory. It would be way harder today I guess, especially on their home soil.

    Nanbawan had it exactly right.

As a citizen of both the US and France I'm torn between the two. I figured when the day comes I'll borrow an Italy jersey and piss off both teams equally (don't forget, the US had a controversial game against Italy as well this past world cup as well)

As for Guadeloupe I really want them to beat Mexico because its Mexico and I would laugh incredibly hard. That and Sanchez has been such a cruddy coach its very possible. Guadeloupe won't beat the US though :p

im a dual citizen too but i would love them to play each other, even just a friendly. it would be like when the us played iran...the media would get all worked up about it, it would be hillarious.

I dont think anyone can really stop Guadaloupe at this point.

I want to see the World XI from that charity game a few years ago play them.

    Guadaloupe WILL WIN.

I would like to see Guadaloupe play France though, it would be very interesting.

Guadaloupe has the best jerseys ever. They look like the ones I wore for Division I recreational soccer when I was 6.

Thay's logical. All in all, USA-Mexico games are always more interesting to follow. When was the last time you beat Mexico, anyway ? 1923 :D ?

...when playing in the U.S. The U.S. has yet to beat Mexico in Azteca. On the other hand, they're in good company.

Guadeloupe was a lot of fun to watch in this tournament...the classic underdog team that showed that they were a lot better than they were supposed to be. They can play in the GC whenever they want if I'm running it. :)

Guadeloupe cannot play France in an official game considering that Guadeloupe is France. ;)

I guess the FFF could always organize a gala game between players of the Guadeloupean league against all other regional leagues... but it couldn't be an official FIFA game.

And considering that something like 70% of Guadeloupeans have voted last year in a referendum against a change of status for their island, I hardly see how things could change anytime soon.

    Panama vs Guadeloupe just ended.

After Panama lead 3-0 at the 57th minute, Guadeloupe scored twice. That wasn't enough as Panama still won the game 3-2. Panama isn't a very competitive team so it's not really good news.

Considering Guadeloupe will now face Canada and the US, its chance to qualify are rather thin. Even in case Guadeloupe wins over Canada, they will most likely be trashed by the US. :(
