    My goodness, what a team
Malawi is doing the short passing game and it is working for them
Algeria is just happy to sit back and counter, and that is not working

Beautiful goal by Kafoteka... what a header

The goalie is so hyped up, but has been terrible for Algeria.

wow before the tournament I would have picked Malawi as the worst of the 16 teams competing in the cup, boy did they surprise me. Totally deserved victory, their passing and organization really surprised me, good technically as well. Algeria seemed to struggle in the conditions.

Rafik Saifi has become a really useless player. Havent scored any goals in Qatar yet and now this performance... Ziaya is a killing machine, he should play next game

All games have been surprises Angola 4-0 up with 15 minutes to go 4-4.
Malawi 3-0 over Algeria who kept Egypt out of the WC.
Bakino Faso hold many a pre tournament favourite Ivory Coast to a 0-0 (Kone should of scored from a great play by Gervinho.)

having just been to Malawi last summer I've got to say I'm so happy for them with their win today. I wonder what it would be like back on Lake Malawi atm and that first game last night... wow, just wow!

Just watched angola v mali highlights.
Seemed like the angola keeper decided to switch teams and play for Mali.
Two of the Mali goals were amazing gifts from the keeper.

During the ALgeria Malawi match it was 40°C and 70% humidity.
ALgeria prepared themselves in France where it was -10°C.

That's bs. Don't be underdog biased. Infra-structures and formation play terribly against you.

Malawi was just another example that any team can be a Greece in this tournament. Even though I do admit that the ones that possess the best talent have a better shot...but it doesn't make much of a diff as in Euros.

Having said this, it's good for a neutral perspective.

Wow Malawi has come a long ways since World Cup 2006 qualifying when they lost 0-7 to Tunisia.

I remember after that match Tunisia sent coaches to Malawi to 'help' them, because they said they felt sorry for beating them so bad and wanted to improve the level of play there or some other BS (really though, they just wanted to help Malawi upset Morocco in their next match [they didn't] which would have ensured that Tunisia would qualify [they did anyways]). I wonder if that actually did help and it lead to this?

I don't think so because they starting improving once their current coach took over in 2008

All I'm saying is the term 'naive' used to describe African defences can equally be applied to European defences as well. In the few games so far at the CAn there have been poor defending decisions; the same happens at the Euro's

Angola v Malawi has been a tense affair
These Malawians have really come to play and are now putting themselves on the African football football map.
I expected them to have a decent showing at the ANC but they are really determined to show that they have come of age.

The hosts hang on and this time win the game
Valiant effort by The Flames and I think they'll beat Mali in their final game. Interesting group now

    Angola - 4 pts
    Malawi - 3
    Alg - 3
    Mali - 1

    Angola v Algeria
    Malawi v Mali

    Group is wide open.

Angola is by far the best team in the group. They should beat Algeria. That means that whoever gets a result from Mali - Malawi goes through... All Malawi needs is a draw (which guarantess qualification).

I don't think they would be guaranteed with a draw because if Algeria beat Angola 1-0, Angola would be on 4 pts pls 1, Malawi would be 4 pts pls 1, the next tie breaker is what goals scored?

edit nevermind I see you are banking on an Angolan victory
