I live in the L.A. area, and over the years I've spoken with many youth players. Of those who are Mexican-American I estimate that 75-80% prefer El Tri over the U.S. That more Mexican-American players have not been invited to various Mexican YNTs is simply because they were deemed to be not good enough (usually because of technical and/or tactical inadequacies). The LA Galaxy and one of their most prominent coaches, Brian Kleiban, are honored that both Efrain Alvarez (a '02) and Ulysses Llanez (a '01) were invited to Mexican camps. Here are some tweets re: Alvarez's invite: Check out @LAGalaxyAcademy's Tweet: @LAGalaxyAcademy player Efrain Alvarez is currently in Qatar with the 2002 Mexican National Team. pic.twitter.com/flXcmhpSet— LA Galaxy Academy (@LAGalaxyAcademy) February 4, 2017 Brian's brother Gary is a critic of U.S. Soccer, and is also proud of Brian's work: Check out @3four3's Tweet: Efra with a goal and 2 assists in his U15 Mexican National Team debut. pic.twitter.com/lw7sHckNtg— 3four3 (@3four3) February 5, 2017 Check out @3four3's Tweet: Bien Efra!https://t.co/tDG90koqH8— 3four3 (@3four3) February 5, 2017

Yank chimes in... http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads...s-1997-and-later.2030961/page-8#post-35104699 That's exactly what the Turkish federation does - scouting German players of Turkish ancestry in Germany. The most recent case is Yunus Malli, who played in all German youth teams from U-17 to U-21. The latest Turkish national squad contained eight Turkish-German players, six of them starters, if I remember correctly. http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads...s-1997-and-later.2030961/page-9#post-35105318 http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads...s-1997-and-later.2030961/page-9#post-35105425 Eminent domain: "... refers to the power of a state or the federal government to take private property for public use while requiring "just" compensation to be given to the original owner." Funny how Trumpkins obviously want The Wall to prevent certain serviceable people from leaving, when it suits them. Jermaine Jones, Julian Green, Gedion Zelalem, John Brooks and Fabian Johnson have all played for German youth national teams before they switched to the USMNT. Fabian even won the 2009 U-21 Euros together with a bunch of our current world champions. US Soccer has been scouting players in Europe forever and no one did ever bat an eye. Maybe it's time for us to finally kick the Yanks out of Europe altogether. As far as football is concerned, let them rely entirely on their MLS scrubs for the whole world to see (and laugh). Trump didn't "change" the U.S., as some lachrimosely claim. He just exposed the Yanks as the bunch of aggressive, racist and xenophobic bigots they've always been, from the day they set foot on Native American territory to today's exceptional warmongers. No more hiding, no more beating around the bush.
17 to 21 years (at the latest!!!) until total world domination... http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads...-soccer-opinions.2038782/page-4#post-35122896
Absolutely he is. This "20 year" prediction for US and MLS domination has been constantly and consistently repeated for as long as I've been around US soccer (which coincidentally is about 20 years now). Here's an example which was posted a decade ago:
So, why did over 40,000 go see the Emelec-New York City FC friendly? Is it simply because football is popular in Ecuador? Is it because South American clubs generally use preseason games against a foreign opponent as homecoming rallies and get good crowds no matter who they play? Naw, son...
Yes, they did I remember after they crashed & burned at the 1998 WC coming in dead last they put some project in place in which their goal was to win the WC in 2010
And apparently that wasn't nearly enough. Just for perspective: According to the DFL, an association of Germany's 1. and 2. Bundesliga, both leagues invested about 600 million euros between 2001 and 2011 (German news article) into the DFB (German FA)-advised overhaul of their youth systems. And that doesn't include investments made by the FA itself. They're currently finalizing the legal application process for their upcoming 125-million-euro DFB academy in Frankfurt. I know Yanks love to brag about how rich they are and that world football won't be able to survive without them. However, reality is that their overindebted fat little fingers are dabbling in checkers while others play chess. A greed-driven pay-to-play system, which basically limits their talent pool to white (upper) middle class orange slice munchers, combined with that franchise circus league named MLS, will continue to yield the same mediocre results for years to come. Almost all of U.S. football's so-called "progress" is based on foreign countries' work, their leagues, academies and dual national talent pool.
