I don’t agree with the widely expressed sentiment on this forum that maradona has a good support cast in 86 Yes they were first tier professional footballers but not great and even world class imo (Valdano is nothing to right about imo he had a alright season and was in form going into the Worlld Cup Argentina 86 is not a great team but rather a good team with one truly great player (There are exaggerations on both sides maradona did not carry a sub par team like hagi did for Romania or even stoichkov for Bulgaria) There would be a long list of honourable mentions that I couldn’t be bothered to mention (Holland 98 could be one of them but Holland circa 1988 definitely would be one of them I don’t know what happened to them at WC 90(van basten disappointed but I think gullit had long past his best level since at least 87/88)
