It also depends what qualifies as a Latino. Ted Cruz would likely identify as a "Latino" and he would likely never face the same issues George Lopez does who would also qualify as "Latino". "Latino" is a much more diverse demographic than most other demographics.
Yep. Think Texas. Whites only make up about 42% of state's population and yet they manage to keep it a red state. Hispanics make up 38%, African Americans 11% and Asians 4%. The only way to make that workable is with significant GOP support in Hispanic communities. My guess is that the GOP voter share goes up the further removed the voter is from the immigrant experience. Arizona is another state that stays red despite being 30% Hispanic.
