Gooch played (subbed at 69? mins) in a Gers 2-1 win. Game delayed by rain. Gers went up when Windass ripped one hard into the roof of the net in the second half. Forrester doubled the lead before the Battery got on back late. Gooch had a header on goal but the play was OS anyway, apparently. Haven't seen much response to his play, but he clearly didn't completely melt in the hot humid weather.
http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/...rk-warburton-hold-8366986#8pqeeLgODjSYlMJF.97 good pic of Gooch - still got some ups. Warbucks making noise that they might offer Onyewu something (although perhaps not much.) Be pretty great little postscript if he could pull off one last dance.
if you watched full match. did you see how andrew carleton did? he got subbed on at half for the battery
Sorry, just read a few reports. Tho I would have like to have seen Gooch. Looks like Gers did stream it. Dunno if you can access after the fact.
One has to think a name change might be in order... Even just a well placed hyphen: Win-Dass... But think of all the fun us 30+ 12 year olds would miss...
I was casting a wide net. I've got you all beat by more than I care to count! I'm even older than Gooch!
All? I'm in the 70+ division. But maybe I don't count, since I usually just watch this thread and don't post in it.
Ok, "most." (Anyone who lives within cruising distance of the 309 Drive-In is a'right with me... what do you mean it isn't there anymore!? I used to play a lot of footie in your neck of the woods. St. John Bosco, Enfield United, Lighthouse, United German-Hungarians, some crazy Ruthenian club up towards Bethlehem... We use to ride our horse and buggy out every weekend!)
Seemed like a long shot to me, but Gers are not exactly flush- maybe they thought they could rent him cheap as a stop-gap.
seriously why hasn't Gooch retired when he didnt make the WC squad (which was an incredibly long shot of course).
i recall 2 years ago QPR (rednapp was in charge) wanting to sign him and he said that JK told him he was a lock for a place in Brazil. Gooch seemed to think he'd make that squad as well. My point was what's he still playing for? it's not as if the offers are as good as they were 5 years ago. Surely by now he could have landed on an MLS squad unless he really just never wanted to come home to play.
Onyewu has played 3 games in 2 years. He trialed with NYC last year and didn't make it. Him making any team above the NPSL level is questionable at this point.

As a New Englander, I can tell you when the Revs are your only option, you are completely fooked. I suppose that Gooch has to clean the carpet to be allowed to stay. Kraft will consider any option that does not cost anything. Oh, and I am sure a new stadium is just around the corner. lol

Is there any way Gooch finds a job in the next MLS season? I guess he would have a shot with an expansion team like Atlanta or Minnesota. Atlanta seems possible given Gooch's college career at Clemson. Orlando could use him too.
No. If he was good enough for MLS, he would have signed with one of the teams he has trained with already. By the time the season starts in March, he won't have played a competitive game in what, 22 months? If he's ever going to play again, it'll be in the lower divisions.
