Making the 4 1/2 hour drive from Pittsburgh Tuesday morning with my 5 year old son. Sitting in Section 106. My son will be rocking his Red #8 Dempsey jersey, Ill be wearing a Red #4 Bradley.
Indeed. I encourage everyone to cheer loudly and hope you encourage the people in your section to cheer loudly. It is about time we have Group Stage matches in which the majority of the crowds will be PRO-USA. We should take advantage of this in loud fashion.
You don't think a bunch of TFC fans are going to make the relatively short trip over? Detroit is so close to Canada as well. How are we so certain there won't be more Canadians there.
Does anyone happen to know where the USMNT is staying? I checked out of the Book Cadillac this morning and they were making key cards for another team, but it is not US.
I also asked the same question and the best answer I got was that the majority of visiting sports teams stay in the Townsend Hotel in the upscale suburb of Birmingham (30 minutes or so from downtown if you're driving).
I've never understood the desire to stay in the same hotel as the team. I did that once in Honduras by accident and it was kind of creepy. Of course, in San Pedro Sula there are two major hotels so we had a 50/50 chance of that happening.
Creepy? I don't get that. Price is a factor to me so I'm not going out of my way to stay there. But I have by coincindenced stayed in the same hotel as MLB and NHL teams and it's pretty cool to see them randomly in lobby.
Oh yeah, there are some creepy fanboys out there. Hell I saw it yesterday at USA vs Spain. I find the very easy accessibility to the team unsettling.
TFC fans do not always equal Canadian fans. Canada as a national team has probably an even tougher time than we do of getting many of its most committed soccer fans (immigrants) to cheer for their country's national team. I have no idea what the stadium make up with be, but I'd guess it will be pro-US overall. Now if this were the World Junior Championships, well, then it would be Detroit, Ontario.
Well I guess it depends on the case. Asking for an autograph or picture I think is okay, but anything more than that is a bit much I guess.
Ok...which one of you is guilty? Police: Tourist runs over Detroit cop in Greektown Mike Wilkinson/ The Detroit News A veteran Detroit police officer on a foot patrol Greektown was seriously injured early Sunday morning after he was struck by a New York motorist driving the wrong way, a police spokeswoman said. The officer, whose name was not released, is in temporary serious condition at a local hospital, Sgt. Eren Stephens said. He was on patrol on Monroe near St. Antoine when the driver hit him with a Ford Focus. The motorist, a 30-year-old whose name was not released, is in custody pending charges, Bell said. After the accident investigation is complete, a report will be sent to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office for review. The accident occurred about 12:30 a.m. The motorist was in town on vacation.
I don't think USSF is flipping the bill for the Townsend, pricey joint. Probably staying downtown at the Marriott Renaissance.
Cool. I don't really have any perspective on the matter so I am glad that you shared your thoughts on it.
