Shit, I'll take Paul Aguilar over this guy. He is decent, but I wouldn't give him a free pass to our "A" team. Aside from the cross that he just struck hard and luckily found a guy 2nd post, what did he do? Talk about riding nuts. You must still think Nery has a shot.
Recorded it and watched it in ffw while working. You could almost hear the Benny Hill chase music with this comedy of errors.
I thought he had a good game and was the biggest surprise of this game but I think it's crazy talk to say he's this lock for the A team and such. Especially since his best today was more upfield and it was Chaka who was playing RB (and being pure shit).
Burrito played like a Gordita, holy shiet he was bad... From the starters, Dedos was good and the rest meh. The subs were all good and made an impact. Alvarez is a beast and he's going to be a star. Props to Curacao for coming to play and not bitching out like Jamaica. It made for a fun game.
You're right that is very embarrassing but props for admitting your lack of world geography knowledge.
I was actually not pleased with Montes performance. His shakiness was comparable to when Araujo almost shit the bed against Russia in the CC. I'm glad Dedos and Alvarez played well.
I don't think it's crazy talk at all because, well, who do we have that can play that spot better? It's the same reason Layun is still called up to our NT. Sadly, in the LB case, no one has been able to give Layun legitimate competition for how many years now? The reality is we have very little NT-quality depth on defense.
In the 1st half I would agree with you but I though he improved a lot in the 2nd half. The total opposite case of Pereira, who I feel dropped a lot as the game progressed. Based on this game? Not only is Curaçao far from the level of teams faced in the Confederations Cup (although a better team than many in this tournament but unlucky) but defensively we didn't see much from Lopez because as stated, he played mostly up field and his better play didn't came as a RB today.
The point is he showed us what he can do offensively on the right flank. Which is something, as I mentioned, our A team did not have. Defensively Raul Lopez is fine. Or if you consider someone else to be on better on defense than him and would prefer that player, then are you saying you're willing to sacrifice offensive play from our RB so a natural center defender like Carlos Salcedo or Diego Reyes can contribute absolutely nothing going forward? Seemed to work real well in Russia.
All that really did was validate Jamaica's strategy, didn't it? Curacao came out to play, and they lost. Jamaica parked the bus, earned a point they were not supposed to earn, and will be going to the quarterfinals. Yes, had Jamaica refused to park the bus the game would have been more fun...for Mexicans. Jamaica would've taken 2-0, which is no fun for them. Granted, I didn't enjoy watching Jamaica play Mexico that way either, but I'd have enjoyed it a lot less had Mexico been banging in goals. And, let's be honest: had Jamaica tried to play toe-to-toe with Mexico, El Tri would have been banging in goals. I think the bigger problem here is that smaller sides just don't have any real incentive not to be defensive against bigger, more technically capable teams when the alternative is an almost certain ass-whopping. That's just the way of the game. I liked the way Curacao played too, but all of that is meaningless when you're going home with no points.
All Curacao had was to play "spoiler" they did very well in pushing Mexico and hit the wood more than once. I'd say this gives them a much better look than parking the bus and getting a point. In my opinion this is a bigger moral victory for them than getting 1-3 points.
