    Looking at Scott McTominay.

    www.mufclatest.com/scott-mctominay-tipped-to-be-future-manchester-united-captain/

Future captain may be a bit lofty. He would do well, if he can establish himself with the first team first. Admittedly, he has been a (nice) surprise since he was first called up last season and he has shown there may be something to him also. Was solid this summer in preseason and last week vs Burton, he showed plenty of fight and desire.
With the fierce competition in midfield, he certainly appears to be a guy who could benefit to a loan stint to a lower level Prem club, in order to get regular playing time, further his development and come back better, ready to compete for a spot at United.

4 appearances is plenty. If he testing with the first team and gets 30 games this year it will be awesome.

We could then flip him for chump change as he is garbage

He's not ready yet, based on what little we've seen of him, to step in as a regular squad member. But he's still very young and with the turnover we're looking at over the next few years, I wouldn't be against keeping him around (preferably loaning him out next season) to see where he goes.
AP is a dead cert for a midfield spot down the line and ideally, so should Timmy, but he sees destined to be a defender for some reason I still don't fully get. So who knows, he could develop into a decent squad option for us, the way Lingard is.
Either way, I feel it's way too early to make a definitive call on him. There's always time to jettison him down the line, if he doesn't pan out.

Pereira played 70 minutes against Bilbao. Tough game, played well, hard working and physical.

Not much on the attacking side of it. He needs to stand out attacking wise if he is to play here in those types of games.

Considering the fact that he's in direct competition with Guedes for playing time out on the left, his loan stint is going pretty well so far. Marcelino tried Pereira first in the starting role, then gave Guedes a couple. The Bilbao game was the first they started together and it looked to work overall.
The Valencia fans have definitely taken to him and what he's done so far: he got a very big round of applause when he was subbed off. Valencia are 3rd in the table at the moment and it's worth remembering AP has not had a preseason with Valencia, so he's still fine tuning his understanding with his teammates and his performance is only bound to improve when he does.

Pretty entertaining game so far, with the score even at 2-2 as we've reached the half. Mitchell has scored both goals for United. Offensively, we've been most dangerous on the left with Shaw and Boonen combining well together and causing all kinds of trouble to WH's right side.

Final score, United lose 4-2. The defending today has been pretty poor. Shaw looked pretty good going forward, but like the rest, was bang average at the other end. Minutes wise, played another full game without problems physically, so that is a plus.
RoShaun Williams came back at least today from injury (came on in the 2nd half and played 30mins), so he should be a big help to the defense, once he's 100% again: his pace, for such a big guy is remarkable (reassuring to see that injuries haven't had any negative effect there). Mitchell getting a brace was another plus as well and Boonen looked good on the left as well, until he had to come off injured.

Good to see RoShaun Williams back.

Angel Gomes scored again for the England U17's.

AP is starting on the bench today for Valencia's game vs Betis. Marcelino still rotating him and Guedes for the time being.

Guedes is playing better to be honest since he is playing his natural position. Pereira did score a screamer late in the second half. I am sure someone has a GIF out there.

Guedes did look pretty good yesterday and perhaps Marcelino will start leaning towards one over the other more. But AP, has done very well himself, with the opportunities he was given. And it stands to reason he will only get better and better (he had no preseason with them after all).

The formation does not help Pereira at all. They are playing the same way Marcelino had his team set up at Villareal a 4-4-2 and his wingers are able to tuck or stay wide.

Pereira is not going to play Dani Parejo's role even though I think he should play there with Kondogbia playing the defensive side of things. With Pereira on the left you will not get direct dribbling and beating men however he is better at possession in a home game with his left back overlapping.

Marcelino will keep rotating these two based on the opposition and the form during the week, the same goes for a couple of other positions like Gaya and Lato, Santi Mino and Carlos Soler, Gabi Paulista and Jeison Murillo. Great experience for Pereira in general.

Would be nice for Angel Gomes to get a game against Bristol City now that he's back from the U17 WC.

Did not see it mentioned here. Pereira had a great game, I did not see it, but he was man of the match and played the 90 in the middle with Kondogbia as Dani Parejo was suspended. I believe he had an assist too.

I always believed Pereira centrally is much better than on the sides.

Lots of talk about Gomes and his future, especially now that he's U17 world champion.

    www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/manchester-united-angel-gomes-barcelona-13836653

And his father is certainly not helping matters...

    www.bleacherreport.com/articles/2741628-manchester-uniteds-angel-gomes-coveted-by-european-clubs-according-to-father

Side note, Gomes is also one of the reasons I really wouldn't be opposed to United going after Ozil as well. He's 28, meaning he should not stand in Gomes's way too long and by the time he steps down, Gomes would be all but ready to make the position his own (or thereabouts).

Rumors about the Pereira recall are a little bothersome to me. By the time he comes back in January we'll be back to having a full complement of CMs barring setbacks for Pogba and Fellaini. So he'd be stuck riding the pine again. Just leave him at Valencia and let him play.
