sdot's original point was Chelsea and City are recruiting much better than us. So there is no argument against it then. Good that we can agree.
it was in response to the question of where are ours. i never said we currently had. if you want to keep going over it fine. until they produce first teamers you won't convince me that the system overall is better. if they scout/recruit better great. until they produce you won't convince me
No. The assertion was that their youth teams have gone past ours. The answer is that they have not. In the same way that Perisic doesn't make us better, having a kid do well for some other team is pointless. We have had kids make a difference for us. So if you are doing better you can't just have talented kids, you have to have them do something for your team. End of story. It isn't a tangent, it is a fact. No amount of successful loans will make us happy about a kid if he doesn't play for United and make us better. I don't see how it is different for teams of similar ambition.
CBJ's time at the club looks to be winding down, with claims that he's not in Jose's plans and could be on the move this summer, either via another loan or straight sold. Leeds are said to be very interested. Would have liked it if he had been given a shot at senior level with us.
Would be elated if Pereira and Tuanzebe get a shot; otherwise, I do not expect much regarding youth while Mourinho is here.
TFM has all tools to be in the same category as those two. Really hope it comes together for him here.
It's disappointing CBJ was not given a chance under Mourinho, he impressed under LVG, I do not see a reason why he wasn't given a chance, not even on the tour where we lack LB's.
We are not even in the list Where to find the best young talent in Europe? Head to Monaco, says @stighefootball 🇲🇨 https://t.co/Eep29v6YxR pic.twitter.com/iVwzR0af8K— B/R Football (@brfootball) July 10, 2017
United are ranked 12th on that list. Apart from the obvious top choices, as it tends to go with any type of ranking, it's all very subjective and open to discussion/personal opinion when it's all said and done... www.bleacherreport.com/articles/2720422-ranking-best-squads-in-europe-by-players-under-23
United have signed another promising Dutch youngster, Millen Baars www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/manchester-united-millen-baars-wiki-12264290
It was like 44,000+ to 21,500ish at second place. So, yeah, we kicked the ever living ******** out of everybody else.
Before I read that article is it going to tell the academy players played those minutes for other teams? If they are logging minutes for other teams then I don't give a fcuk.
Yes. It counts players who werent good enough (Drinkwater, Simpson, Heaton) and even players who grew up at other academies like Pogba. Also includes guys who graduated from our academy over a decade ago like Fletcher.
See, you can't have it both ways. Can't discount this if you rate other academies who don't produce talent for their teams. You either admit our academy is the daddy or that their academies aren't that good.
The point has always been the last few years (ie recent trends) and johno & co are going to keep tilting at windmills which have nothing to do with it. Let's think the academy is great because of the likes of Simpson, Fletcher, Evans played a lot last year.
First, those two things in your last sentence are not mutually exclusive. Second, there is a difference between an academy being good and an academy being sucessful (within the context of the club being evaluated. Third, evaluating an academy is dependent on club strategy. Since I am not in the United boardroom I have to surmise. Since we don't need the money we should be developing talent to help us win trophies. In that case it is not very successful (but it is a good one evidenced by the players we have playing in the league). I just dont think it benefits us which is why I dont want to read the article.
Another signing for the Academy. www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/manchester-united-transfers-theo-richardson-13377611
