There was some speculation of Gomes being loaned to Sporting as part of the deal - he has a Portuguese passport and is even eligible to play for their national team. However, suspect he has his next move lined up elsewhere already - so unlikely to agree to a brief loan.
You don’t let go of guys like Chong and Gomes unless you can say you’ve done everything you can in terms of giving them chances or opportunities to develop them properly. We’ve failed in both cases: even if they weren't ready for the first team, we should have been patient and sent them on loan from the start of the season. And I bet we'll live to regret it on some level at some point, for one or possibly even both of them.
https://www.ajc.com/sports/atlanta-...for-manchester-united/9LTPjVqRSRygcBXqg4tYhN/ Wishing young Efrain the best of luck in his trial with the club: hope he makes an impression. He's an interesting prospect.
Ole to promote some youth players to the first team. https://www.manchestereveningnews.c...ll-news/man-united-transfer-news-u23-17596610 Laird and even Ramazini make sense. The surprise would be Mejbri for sure: his talent is not the concern obviously, but whether he would be ready physically for the challenge. Would be interesting to see what he could do however, if given an opportunity. With players having come back recently from injury, it still would be something of a surprise though. I guess we'll see. The upcoming FA Cup tie vs the Watford vs Tranmere might be what Ole is looking to give him a shot at making the squad. Ole having to dig deep into the youth ranks for bodies does speak volume about the current state of the first team squad also.
Mengi is still just a kid obviously, at still just 17, but he really is an exciting prospect for us. Really curious to see how he progresses in the next 3-4yrs. Been superb so far in the U18s Youth Cup game vs Norwich. Still 0-0 at HT but both teams have had their chances (Hoogewerf really should have scored twice).
United end up winning this game 2-0 and move on. Mengi who scored the 2nd goal and Mejbri, playing at the 10 spot were the clear standouts today.
Here's Teden Mengi's powerful header that sent United through in the FA Youth Cup.Another great display from the 17-year-old who's already an U23s regular. One of United's most exciting prospects.pic.twitter.com/UQQ1tkM5uR— Harry Robinson (@HarryRobinson64) January 21, 2020 A CB who can score from corners. How about it Big Mag?
Nice to see Levitt back. #MUAcademy U23s: Norwich v #MUFC – Fojticek; Puigmal, Mengi, Taylor, McGhee; Garner, Galbraith, Levitt; Barlow, Gomes, Traore. Subs: Carney, Helm, Wellens, Mejbri, Ramazani. pic.twitter.com/x4Q6NgMCK9— Manchester United (@ManUtd) January 31, 2020
Another 3pts in the bag for the U23s today in a come from behind win vs Norwich. Barlow's equalizer (Gomes on the assist). Aidan Barlow gets on the end of a clever ball from Angel Gomes to equalise for the Reds - and, what a finish! 👌Catch the action live on #MUTV: https://t.co/WLM2yyAmpa pic.twitter.com/Z44jOzHLaW— Manchester United (@ManUtd) January 31, 2020 United's 2nd (Traore) ⚡️ Puigmal’s burst down the wing is finished off by Traore, to put Neil Wood’s side in the lead! Big win for the U18s today in the Youth FA Cup vs Leeds. Hoogewerf scored with winner. Mengi with another big defensive display: loving this guy more and more and should he manages to keep this up, he'll be another big time talent. Mejbri was good as well, even more so as he was being systematically targeted for rough treatment from Leeds. Well done on their part and onto the next round. Hoogewerf's game winner. 🎯 Reece Devine's cross 👌⚽ Dillon Hoogewerf's header 👏🔴 This is how United sealed their spot in the next round of the FA Youth Cup!#MUFC #FAYouthCup #FAYCpic.twitter.com/kYzw8DX0jh— Stretford Paddock (@StretfordPaddck) February 5, 2020
Teden Mengi [17] is really shining for #mufc:✅Physically gifted [size, strength, power, pace]✅Technically gifted [calm on the ball, accurate long passer]✅Mentally gifted [great footballing awareness, vocal leader]The prototypical centre back. pic.twitter.com/uoVjJVC7na— Robbo (@utdrobbo) February 5, 2020 Can't disagree with any of this to be frank. We've got a few potential gems at youth level right now and he's definitely not far from the top of the list, as far as I'm concerned. Just fun watching him play overall but love those awesome runs from the back with the ball, full of pace, power and more importantly control: the guy almost looks like a midfielder. The fact that he's already managed to cement his place as first choice CB for the U23s at just seventeen is pretty remarkable as well. Kind of the perfect mix between Tuanzebe and Williams at the same age. Question is whether he can follow the path of the former to the first team eventually?
https://www.manchestereveningnews.c...fer-news/man-united-news-angel-gomes-17681175 Our handling of Gomes, from the outside looking in at least, has been such a mess. Didn't let him go on loan prior to the start of the season, yet barely played him when there were more than enough opportunities to do so. And the club have done it again this past month. Even if he hasn't signed a new contract, can't see the harm of letting him go on loan to another club, especially if there are no real plans to play him in the first team the rest of the way. Provided the report above is true, this whole thing is really disappointing and the club best have learned their lesson with the next group of guys coming up, starting with Levitt and Garner...
The club still in negotiations with both Gomes and Chong according to Ole. Solskjær: "We're still in [contract] talks with them [Gomes and Chong]. The boys have got a great attitude. They're absolutely top class boys and we're doing what we can to keep them because in a few years we can see them becoming very very good players." #mulive [telegraph]— utdreport (@utdreport) February 21, 2020
Ole is just blowing cotton candy up your ass. The unicorns and rainbows he spews are becoming ludicrous.
Another contract situation for a youth player that we need to keep an eye is the one in regards to Ramazani. His current contract expires at the end of the season also and he still hasn't signed a new deal yet. Which has seen him left out of the U23 team this calendar year so far. Didn't play in yesterday's 0-2 win vs from the youth team in. Brugge. Belgian press is not reporting anything about any interest from other clubs, but he definitely will be getting offers if he does not re sign with United. Aside from the fact that it would not be a good look to lose him (when we already have 2 significant youngsters who appear on their way out), he is a young talent who could have a future and one we need to keep and nurture a while longer. Don't imagine it's time to worry yet, as is the case with Chong and Gomes, but at the same time the sooner this is done, the better.
Highly-rated Ethan Laird has signed a new & improved contract at #MUFC, keeping the defender at the club until 2023 with the option of a further year— Simon Peach (@SimonPeach) February 25, 2020 Great news: need to find a way to integrate him into the first team soon. Another prime target to go on loan next season, in my estimation. Gk Paul Woolston has signed a new contract as well.
A loan to a Dutch lower table team may be too much for him, but I think he needs 2 loans anyway. Maybe Championship and then lower table team somewhere abroad. He needs the 2 loans for development, but also for us to determine the future of Dalot.
Nicky Butt on Angel Gomes: "I've still got massive hopes for him. He’s got a contract dispute at the minute which all players have. I don’t get involved in that. That’s personal. The boy trains every day, works hard & his talent is unbelievable" #MUFC— Simon Peach (@SimonPeach) February 27, 2020 Nicky Butt on Angel Gomes: "His work ethic, the way he approaches training every day, & the way he approaches games whether he’s playing for the reserve team, the Under-19s, the first-team, is spot-on and he’s a very talented boy" #MUFC— Simon Peach (@SimonPeach) February 27, 2020 Nicky Butt on Angel Gomes: "He’s different to players like Scott because they are powerful & they can go an compete at that level. Angel is different. He has to get the right niche at the right time. If it all comes together then we've got one hell of a player on our hands" #MUFC— Simon Peach (@SimonPeach) February 27, 2020
Well done from the U18s to advance in the Youth Cup by defeating a tough Wigan team today 2-1 (goals from Shoretire and Sotona) Up next it's Chelsea in the semi final.
Manchester United youngster Tahith Chong has given his approval to join Inter Milan on a free transfer at the end of the campaign. He's set to sign a deal until 2025 and will be sent out on loan next season.(Source: Calciomercato) pic.twitter.com/jCVgwYfMGZ— Transfer News Live (@DeadlineDayLive) February 28, 2020
