He's an '00 with SV Wehen. He was mentioned in the Detective Work thread, here: https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/th...ive-work-thread.1987805/page-28#post-36334680 I'm upgrading him based on this (German) article that calls him a "Deutsch-Amerikaner." http://www.wiesbadener-tagblatt.de/...te-fuer-den-ligaverbleib-sammeln_18707512.htm It sounds like he expects to be back with Wehen next year. The story is a preview of an upcoming youth match against Bayern Munich. https://www.dfb.de/en/data-center/people/giona-leibold/player Photo from what may be his agency or some other kind of adviser: http://absolutsport-beratung.de/
his team Wehen U19 in the U19 Sud/Sudwest got relegated to lower division at the end of this season. Although seems like he has a contract until Summer 2018. no idea how he did or where what he plans to do next, too low key of a player.
update for the season as of now for his last season in U19. As stated above this is lower U19 level. 1 goal in 2 games for Wehen. His goal was the winner in a 2-1 win for Wehen U19. playing 180 minutes. but this thread seems more academy material.
currently at 3 goals in 9 games for Wehen U19 this season. Tied in 2nd place with others in terms of scoring on the team. doesn't seem like either of Jermaine Parker or Kasteleiner are doing well, especially the latter. That's your triple German-Americans on the same team. as for NT he was involved in the dfb U19 perspective team where they played vs U18 clubs in Germany. They had 2 wins and 2 losses. Believe that Leibold started all 4 games. also another thread for the Academy.
currently stands at 5 goals in 12 games playing 1026 minutes this season. Also now 2nd top scorer of his team. Believe that's pretty good in the league too. as a 00 he's playing his last eligible season in U19 and Wehen 1st team are a 3rd Liga club.
looks like he's signing a pro contract with 1st team in Summer 2019 until 2021. Which is something the Wehen sporting director announced not long ago.
Meanwhile, it looks like Wehen's first team is currently in 6th place in the B3. With that said, the top of the table is pretty far ahead.
played 11 min in a 2-0 win with the 1st team today. an update on his status. Leibold is even now firmly on the professional team. "The boy has earned himself with really good lines," says SVWW sporting director Christian Hock. "Match practice, he will collect until the end of the season, although predominantly in the U19, but participate in all units of the professionals." http://www.3-liga.com/news-3liga-wehen-wiesbaden--rehm-hat-nachwuchs-im-blick-40820.html
makes his 3rd Liga debut for Wehen (club is going for 2BL promotion playoff). Profidebut für Leibold. Welcome, Giona. 🙌🙌🙌#kfcsvww . (64. 1:2)— SV Wehen Wiesbaden (@SVWW_official) May 18, 2019 game is currently 2-2.
This article says Giona's brother played college soccer. http://www.wiesbadenaktuell.de/star...iona-leibold-svww-wie-eine-zweite-heimat.html That's almost certain Noah Leibold, who played for Wisconsin. https://uwbadgers.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=7008
outside of 1 meaningless game, Leibold was not really involved this season as Wehen are promoted to 2BL beating Ingolstadt 4-4 on away goals. also means that Parker or Kasteleiner's 1st team is 2BL, assuming they ever get any chances.

looks like he was involved again as he played 30 min today in a 3-1 win vs RL side. Leibold auf links zieht ab, aber Baltzer im Tor der Eichstätter pariert. #eicsvww (76. 1:2 #dasWvereint #svww 🔴⚫️— SV Wehen Wiesbaden (@SVWW_official) July 7, 2019
looks like he did well in that Sunday friendly, seems to have been +. Who knows if that's enough to be kept around or loaned out.
it's weird how he plays than doesn't and continues like that. Did not play yesterday but is playing today. Wechselperiode, Teil 2: Euschen, Kuhn, Watkowiak, Gül, Leibold, Kyereh. #bscsvww (67. 0:2) #dasWvereint 🔴⚫️— SV Wehen Wiesbaden (@SVWW_official) July 13, 2019
Played 18 min in a 5-2 win over 5th division club. Leibold ist im Spiel, Shipnoski raus. unused bench player in a 5-2 loss to AB today. Very close to moving to the main YA part although Wehen really seem like relegation candidates at this point. 💺 Zunächst auf der Bank: Bartels, Mißner, Mockenhaupt, Chato, Dams, Niemeyer, Guthörl, Gül, Leibold.— SV Wehen Wiesbaden (@SVWW_official) September 21, 2019
looks like he's currently not fit. At this point he needs a Winter loan. I think one can put him as a player who worse thing that could have happened to him was the club getting promotion. A lot of youngsters pay that price, especially those who's club has no II team.
on the bench for the last game pre-Winter break. Tietzi is back! 🤩 Zunächst auf der Bank: Watkowiak, Schwede, Tietz, Shipnsoki, Medic, Niemeyer, Titsch Rivero, Guthörl, Leibold. #KSCSVWW #svww #dasWvereint 🔴⚫️— SV Wehen Wiesbaden (@SVWW_official) December 20, 2019
Wehen played 4X30 min in a 5-2 loss to St Pauli. seems like he only played 10 minutes in the friendly. more and more report that him and some others are likely not in the plans for 2nd half of season. Sounds like either loans or they do nothing but train until Summer unless injuries to other.
