It's never too soon for transfer talk, (especially with another International break).

And who better to kick off the discussion than Dennis Bergkamp!

Yes, I know transfers weren't the main topic of his interview with the Telegraph on Tuesday,
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...enal-to-work-on-the-clubs-coaching-staff.html

But on the subject of strikers, he did have this to say:

"I still feel up front there should be a few more goals. Maybe in the winter transfer window they might look at that. But I think there is a chance to get to a higher level with the team.”

With Theo and Poldi both out, plan B literally begins and ends with Nicklas Bendtner.

Curiously, a certain "little pea" from Mexico could be available in a few months:

    http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1577402/javier-hernandez-hints-manchester-united-exit?cc=5901

I think he's exactly the type of player that can latch onto an Ozil corner or a Gibbs cross without needing time to bed into the squad. Less than 3 months until the silly season begins!

    Chicharito is crap.

There was some buzz from a totally unreliable American outlet that Wenger might have the hots for Diego Costa.

Can't see it happening in January, but I guess you never know.

Chicharito would be great, the only people saying "he is crap" are US National Team fans with the obvious bias. All I've read regarding impressions of him from people in the UK/UK United fans are that he is a very good and clinical striker. I think he had the best goals per minute ratio last season in the league.

No he is shite and this is not bias. I am judging him based on what I have seen him with his club, not country. He is a one trick pony and who end up link Van Nistroy, shipped out fairly soon. That being said, I don't think he will do a RVN and leave the stadia if he isn't even listed on the team sheet.

But who is really available that is of the RVP/Cavani mold? Suarez? He'll be at Madrid if not this winter then in the summer. Hernandez could be a good complement to Giroud and is proven in the PL, although to be honest I'd rather he go to a team where he'd get more playing time than he would at Arsenal, but he would score goals no doubt.

If Suarez goes to Madrid I think we should consider signing Morata who's a very interesting talent. Wenger seems to be moving away from the RVP/Suarez mold of striker to the tall but skillful type of striker that Giroud is, so Morata would fit his aims.

Not sure what you're referring to here, but if it's about not wanting to start another transfer thread already, I think I may have to take the blame for reminding everyone that it was MIA.

There was some blurb, allegedly, in the Spanish press that AW was gonna buy both DiMaria and Karim in January. Don't believe that

    Oh yes, indeed!

Listen, as long as we buy a striker, I'm happy. Chicharito would be just fine, but a striker who can hold up the ball well would be even better.

Which striker would we get though? I don't like the idea of Chicharito for anything over 7-8 million: too one-dimensional as a player.

The way I see it, we can either go for Giroud-lite (someone strong, holds the ball up well, and has good link up play and movement, and I'm about to vomit because I just described what a motivated Bendtner could be), or we can go the false nine-ish route (someone with good technique who drops deeper for the wingers to attack into, ala Suarez). Ideas for signings?

First person to mention Lewandowksi gets e-lynched.

If they buy a marque striker rather than putting their faith in Morata I can see Morata pushing for a move away, especially since Madrid also have Jese (who's another highly rated young striker). Then Madrid is not the club that would block their desire to move, looking at their past record of letting players go.
