I know. I'm just worried that the player sitting on yellows will be picking up more and won't be able to play the round of 16.

Heh? AFAIK all yellow cards are erased after the group stages. Although as stated if someone gets booked in the 3rd game they will miss the round of 16.

    Are you sure?

Because I read on FIFA's website (I think) yesterday that the yellow cards are erased after the quarter final. Are you sure it is group stage?

But that would be only if it's their 2nd yellow, correct? A first booking of the tournament in this match would not prevent them from playing their next match, correct?

And I've heard rumors that all cards would be erased after the group stage, but have not been able to find that info to confirm it on FIFA's or UEFA's sites. Does anyone have confirmation that cards will be cleared for the knockout rounds? Links please...

People will always support Germany, no matter what. Well, unless it gets to a ridiculous level like this current French team. That said, we have and should maintain different standards. If you want to be the best you always have to strive for the top, that's how most great teams get there.

Löw wasn't aware of it either. This morning he said he assumed they'd be erased after the group stage.

I am looking forward to the Kroos-Aogo midfield partnership against Argentina. :p

I know you refer to the cup win... but also relevant here is that the team was heavily slammed in Germany back then (vertainly more vicious then everything you will see this cup). Germany also lost on purpose in 54, of course.

Anyway, I've never been one from the always support the team school of thought.

Yeah thanks, didnt know that. A quite ridicoulous ruling if you ask me. Why do the rules in this WC seek to disqualify players? What we want to see is every team with their full lineups playing against each other. These drastic measures are completely inecessary. Its not as if we saw extensive hitting in the last World Cup or in recent years either.

FIFA has ruined the World Cup so far with their decisions regarding the referees and such. I dont think South Africa was the right choice to host the World Cup. It's great to see African teams becoming stronger in soccer but in my opinion South Africa was not ready to host the World Cup

PS: With the internet being what it is today and social media becoming increasingly popular you'd think FIFA would take advantage of them to enhance the deliver of news and entertainment to the fans. FIFA's website for the World Cup is rather poor compared to Euro 2008's website (or even World Cup 2002's website)

HA! Don't forget Gomez up top, Friedrich/Boateng at RB, Badstuber remaining at LB and Trochowski filing in for Oezil. :D

Search the board for "Alex_K + Oliver Neuville" (if the search function works again, maybe after the WC).

And not that I follow the French team closely, but from all reports I read and the threads on the French board, Ribéry appears to be one of the bullies in this case.

    I try, I try.

Yeah, it makes absolutely no sense. After the QF???
What are they trying to do?. :(

(There was the Portugal-Netherlands game in 2006 though... maybe it's their fault!).

Germany needs to stop with the crosses in the box and concentrate more on the one-twos and through passes. Especially with a physical team like Serbia or Ghana, crosses would be hard to capitalize on. And in addition, so far no player (that plays on the flanks) has showed their capability of delivering a decent cross. Against Serbia, Muller delivered disastrous crosses, and on the other side Marin/Podolski tended to cut in more instead of any crosses.

As long as Scheweini and Khedira control the mid, we can get more out of Ozil and Muller to deliver the through passes to Cacau or Podolski.

    LET'S GO! Can't WAIT.

P.S - While Argentina and Holland are the only teams that have passed the group stages for sure, they haven't impressed me either. Don't give up on Germany!
