The folks you spoke with were quite informed. I was expecting they would ask if you lived on trees, Have a tail or if you ever celebrated Xmas
Belated congrats to our Nationalmannschaft! Well-deserved win as we outplayed the English completely. That said, I am soooooooooooooo worried about our defense against Argentina. It is shaky as ever. Do we have what it takes to stop Messi, Higuain and tevez co.? Go Germany!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ROFLMAO! True story A couple of years ago, I was telling a lady at the salon about my trip to London. At one point she asked me: "what [language] do they speak over there?" . I calmly said "English" and continued talk about my trip..
For those who didn't see it before : https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showpost.php?p=21079198&postcount=353
Reminds me of the time I was talking to this lady in Dallas.....she said.."Where are you from"....I replied..."England"......and she said..."My but you sure do speak good English"....
All freakin' over, man. I always have to say it's between Colombia and Peru and the next question to follow sometimes was, "Oh, I thought that was Central America."
yeah. To be honest the upstate new yorkers were not as bad as the people here in vermont. Although it might have to do with me associating more here with college kids...who ironically are mostly not from vermont.
That Sentosa cable car thing is a part of the plot. Even when I took the cable car, mid way there was a sudden jerk and it stopped for 5 minutes. Later, when we reached the side that has the musical fountain, the tour guide or someone official there will told us that a cable snapped/ there was some electrical fault. Just to scare the hell out of you. I guess they aren't looking for repeat tourists. Either ways, it doesn't seem that appealing the second time. When I told this to a few friends who had gone to SIngapore, they said that it happened with them too. Too much coincidence, me thinks.
Lol...my guess is that the stop is to load passengers at the other end, no? As far as the "joke's on you" gag, that is pretty poor taste.
Could be. That's a smart guess. But I can't confirm if that truly is the case. Functioning of cable cars is not in my domain of expertise. I lost you here. On topic: The Mumbai Mirror ( Indian version of the Sun, minus the sleaze bit) is speculating that Beckham could coach England very soon.
My point is that the "joke" or comments made by the cable-car operators saying that a "cable broke" or, there is an "electrical issue" is pretty fucking stupid!!!!
I've never been on those things, they look dodgy. Sentosa has been completely revamped now, it's more touristy with Universal Studios and a Casino.
Still a remnant of WWII. Since 1990, Germany isn't officially occupied anymore, but there are still lots of soldiers stationed.
To keep the Germans down, the Americans in and the Russians out :-D Didn't know you lived so far up norht Benztown, always placed you in or around actual Benztown(Stuttgart).
Well, that's where I used to live anyway. It's interesting that the Americans were acting quite differently though. They mostly keep to themselves, but when they go out and "mingle", they're usually modest and friendly, while the Brits act as if they're on a binch-drinking vacation... That could of course also have to do with the fact that Stuttgart is a little bigger and the barracks further away from the city center, so the Americans don't stand out as much. In fact I seldom met any (or recognized them as such...you can tell that somebody is British from miles away).
Dunno, Hanover is pretty Brit-free (lot's of Spanish though ). I guess the situation in Heidelberg or Rammstein is also different from Stuttgart.
In another thread a couple of weeks ago (wish I could remember which thread) someone posted a picture from one of the major Chicago news channels.....it showed the presenter talking about the upcoming world cup with a picture behind him of a large map of a portion of the globe and the words "South Africa" written across the land mass..... .....unfortunately the picture was of South America....
My old roomate (current working on his masters teaching english as a second language) thought India was not a part of Asia.
