Löw on Lahm: Decision if midfield or fullback will be made during camp and the test games.

Sounds like Lahm goes then with a certain spot into the tourney.

Well Löw could play the "I dont know yet where Lahm is going to play game" before every game.

Zieler, Durm, Schweinsteiger, Jansen, Goretzka, Hahn, Khedira, Meyer should be favourite for the chop

    But I don't understand a thing. Ter-Stegen it's called for Poland and he isn't in the 30?

Remember Klose went in 2002 instead of Martin Max who was the joint Torjaeger that year and had been having very good seasons prior to that. Same with Neuville.

There is a chance Loew is thinking that Volland might have a break out. Frankly, I think playing him against the US will give that sieve of a back line the US has many, many fits.

And it was a big mistake back then, what has Klose done 2002? The team totally relied on Ballack to score.

He only scored (Klose that is) five goals, will admit all in Group stages and 3 f them against Saudi Arabia.. Ballack only scored three of which two were important goals 1-0 against US and South Korea. Klose other two goals came against Ireland 1-1 and Cameroon 2-0
Anyway had a look on kicker.de.. Volland is rated second best striker over the whole season if you look at player ratings. 1st Lewandowski and 3rd Mandzukic.

Huh? What are you talking about?

During the timeframe from 2001-2010, in which both players were on the team, Klose scored more and had a better strike rate than Ballack. The data from fussballdaten.de is below and is pretty clear.

Hate Klose if you like, but there is no disputing his numbers. He clearly delivered in WM years. You want to argue he failed in EM years? Ok, perhaps. But there is no denying that in the past three WMs, it has been Klose who has helped the team. Clearly the team did not rely on Ballack for scoring.

    -----------Mueller

    ---Gotze----Reus----Volland

    ----------Piggy--Kroos

    ---Durm--Hummel-Boateng-Lahm

Reus seems to play better in the middle and Mueller can exchange position with volland a lot during a match.

Bitte nicht Boateng. His epic fails the last several key games should keep him on the bench for a while IMHO.

Can't mark, too slow, lousy temper and big ego. Would rather have "Meatsacker" in the middle.

Stop the shit thx, I never said Klose didn't score more than Ballack nor did I say that I hate him. You asked about the WC2002 and if it's an achievement nowadays for a German striker to only score at the group stage against average competition, then you're right - maybe Kießling should've been called up either. Martin Max was the better striker back then and should've went to SK/J. That has nothing to do with Klose rising to one of the best strikers worldwide afterwards. In 2002 we had better options.-

Volland is a good wildcard. He is more versatile than Kruse and although I feel bad for Kruse, if the decision was between these two, I would have picked Volland as well.

You said the NT relied on Ballack. I simply pointed out that Klose put up numbers expected of a forward in a WM year. That's all. No shit there, just simple facts.

    Your exact words were...

I merely pointed out exactly what Klose has done since then, that Ballack was not relied on to score because Klose and others clearly did and that -- while Max and a few others were better options in 2002 -- Klose was not exactly chopped liver in 2002.

    Before somebody else does it:

Id like to take all the credit in advance for KV. Just in case Kevin wins us that damn thing.
