I like this lineup. Ideally you'd have Sülè instead of Rüdiger, but he might be too similar to Hummels. Hopefully this is the start of a fresh beginning for ter Stegen; had a rough time in the NT so far.
can Kroos and Weigl really play together? from what I saw the lineup is ----------------Ter Stegen Kimmich-Rudiger-Hummels-Hector ----------Weigl---------Kroos --Brandt----Podolski---------Sane ---------------Werner also here's hoping Podolski scores a brace and gets to hit 50 goals for Germany before retiring. and it's confirmed that England are playing a back 3.
Well I think Podolski will be used more on the left. Just my two cents Would love to see Goretzka in this lineup but too bad he's playing for U21 Can play the AM/SS role instead of Brandt. I think he offers more inside the box
cheap giveaways from us and we've been dreadful. Werner is doing pretty well for his 1st start, almost embarrassed Hart but he can't really play when we are creating nothing. gotta say against both Italy and England, Weigl has been average at best. this game also reminds me of why I'm glad we qualified for the Confederations Cup. Good practice for the youngsters.
Sane should have passed would have been an open net goal for Werner instead he shoot straight at Hart.
ever since Weigl went off and was replaced by Can, the team's been playing better. I think our 1st half problems were Weigl and Kroos together in the 11. 2 players that are more passers more than anything. Too much alike, neither are players that have a presence/dominance in midfield.
not a great game from us especially the 1st half. But it's fine, just a friendly game and we won too. it's also our 7th consecutive clean sheet we haven't conceded since Euro 16 vs France!!!!
It's pretty clear England wanted this more than we did. I'm not going to conclude much of anything other than: 1. Podolski still has a rocket of a left foot. 2. Werner was very active and hungry, wanted to prove to Loew he deserves to start. Good energy.
yeah Werner played a great game for his 1st cap ever, full of life and energy was all over the England defense.. He also didn't really get much chances because we barely created anything especially the 1st half. From what I saw our team was only active the last 15 minutes of the game. That's when we started to actually attack and do something but by then Werner was already subbed off. he could have capped off his 1st seniors game with a goal had Sane passed the ball. I hope Werner gets chances to prove himself vs Azerbaijan as he deserves it but if Gomez if fit, Low will most likely choose experience in a qualifier. In that case he could still be an impact sub.
Ok performance, second half an improvement. What a strike from Poldi, it's a shame so few other players have such awesome shooting power.
I think we played a 442 in the first half (or maybe 2nd half as well) Midfield was completely overplayed
I agree 100% about Sane being raw. I recall I felt the same pre-Euro 16 the 2 friendly games and even during the Euros when he played. Now at City he's still not there yet. He's a player with tons of potential but still very raw one. It's fine he's only 21 years old. Great end for Lukas too bad he couldn't get that brace that would have made him hit 50 goals. also maybe Low let England dominate the game so that we can practice defense.
Sane looked more raw tonight then he has for Man City, where he has been one of their best and most consistent performers in 2017.
