I'm more concerned with aerial threat we can provide

Klose n Suarez may not be the biggest but they can provide considerable aerial threat. Timo Werner needs to improve that, n I don't see that in Stindl at all.

Mark Uth, Volland n Max Philipp too... need to improve that as well.

Aerial threat is mostly valuable on set-pieces, and we have plenty of aerial threat on those.

anyone can head a ball in the back of the net. It's not something only strikers can do. LOL Mustafi scored a goal at the Euros with a header. Hummels scored 2 WC goals with headers, including the winner vs France.

for free kicks/corners, it's actually better if the ones who score is not the striker since that's the player that gets hogged the most. Look at Real, how many times has Sergio Ramos saved the day with his headers...

Besides Werner scored a headed goal this season so he can do it when he has to.

None from open attack? I don't think so

The ball is on the ground for Germany far more often than it is in the air. It would be a nice tool to have, but I think it's very acceptable for forwards to not have it if their overall package is strong enough. Look at Aguero.

If u look at all the younger strikers, its important to have a complete package. Especially those playing in a 4-2-3-1 formation

U cant just score from set-pieces, u need to have some weapons in open play as well.

Look at Lukaku, Harry Kane, Andre Silva, Dolberg, Mounie n so on ...........having size advantage n an aerial threat brings u more options.

Thats my concern about timo Werner, is he just a player for counter attack?

eh, it's not shocking. Brandt is playing well don't get why you keep saying he isn't playing well. Also anyone who thinks Ozil will be dropped won't get what they want. If one would only look at club form than Klose would have been dropped out years before he retired.

    the coach on Werner.
"Werner is a young and interesting player with a good eye. He's very adaptable and has consistently played at the highest level this season," said Die Mannschaft boss Löw on the call-up. "I'm looking forward to welcoming him into our group and being able to observe him at close quarters."

I think Goretzka should have been chosen ahead of Can. So no call ups for Wagner or Stindl. Stindl is injured and Wagner has not scored for awhile now, his last goal was scored in January 21.

I hate Loew said a striker is versatile

Please don't play him on the wings, let him play as striker n develop further

it's a shame there are only 23 spots in the NT.
you had these players missing out because of injuries or U21.
    -Tah
    -Boateng
    -Reus
    -Gotze
    -Gundogan
    -Gnabry
    -Goretzka
    -Meyer
    -Henrichs
    -Volland
    -Stindl

which gives us 34 players for 23 spots only when it comes to the WC 18...

I think Low taking Werner leans strongly towards him getting a call up to the Confederations Cup. As for the other players who went to the U21. Well they were recently picked so Low knows what they can do and what they provide. Will be interesting to see the U21 vs Confederations Cup.

didn't Low say that Werner has the potential to become a world class striker.
he also last months when talking about finding the next Suarez or Cavani, he mentioned Werner.

all of that indicates striker his Low's aim not the wings.

Gnabry should be in ahead of Schürrle, and Goretzka instead of Can.

Neither Schürrle nor Can have performed well enough to merit a place in the NT. Why are they there?

the answer is simple ......the coach.
Schurrle like Gotze and others is an established player who has some brownie points for his past deeds. Like 3 WC goals and assisting the final winning goal as well as having a pretty good goal scoring record of 20 goals in 55 games with most of those games coming from the bench.

I think it's hard to judge players based on club football only. If one would look at club football only Klose would never have lasted in the NT until 36. It's the same for other players for other countries, they perform better for country than for club.

as for Can I think Low like him.

Can? He is the nearest thing to Khedira. Physical, mobile box-to-box midfielder.

Weigl, Kroos, Rudy n Gundogan are like deep-lying playmaker. Their coverage on the pitch is not as much as Khedira, Kramer n Emre Can. Since Loew has given up on Kramer, I think Emre Can is his first choice backup to Khedira. Dahoud may be another option though

And Goretzka is an AM/SS for Schalke this season. He isn't involved too much defensively. So Goretzka's direct competitors are players like Oezil or Mueller. Of coz if he can play as a false 9, he is someone who can provide different elements up top.

Schuerrle should be behind Sane, Draxler, Gnabry, Bellarabi, Brandt n Reus at the wing
